8 x pcie slots teamed up with only 4 x memory slots?
seems a little strange...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
that board reeks of overkill
im likeing it tbh mind u i do like msi to start with
I like how MSI are throwing everything but the kitchen sink at their products, always nice to have an alternative to Asus/GB.

CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I don't see it as much of an overkill, in fact I like where this is going. We all know SSDs are here to stay and they're only getting quicker. SATA is a) too slow, b) based on too much legacy (optimized for spinning things) and c) simply not doing enough to keep up with times.
Let's say you install 2 graphics cards, a USB 3.0 card, maybe a sound card and a SATA 3 card. That's 7 slots gone already. If you are the type of person that keeps their hardware for a long time (like me), you definitely have the potential to use a lot of these slots (PCIe, SATA and DDR3 are a lot more future proof than PCI, DDR1/2 and PCI). I think we may be moving away from SATA as an SSD interface and PCIe will play a major role in that.
Too bad that intel's chipsets have very limited number of PCIe lanes.
XL-ATX that's what 5 cases on the market currently? If not including ThermalCrap ofc.
Sorry, I'm not buying a case to take half of my desk space ;O

Agreed. Until the case companies get moving this is pointless.
I think Mountainmods made one of the only cases that would fit the XL 'standard' without looking hideous... and that was because it's pretty much a "design it yourself" job.
Agreed the mobo is a bit too big but I think their focus is spot on. The trend for more PCIe 8+x slots should continue. The majority of users don't need legacy PCI and those that do are still catered for starting from £45 for an AMD board.
That's a seriously big motherboard.
A man must have code -Bunk
Yep you can say that again one big mother of a board wonder how much its going to cost.
What can I say it looks all singing and dancing apart from it only has 4 memory slots, whats going on there?
Also with this board aimed at a limited market and not supporting tri channel memory I think its dead in the water before release.
Which will more than likely supply plenty of memory bandwidth for everything but synthetic memory benchmarks
Of course if you want to fit 6 DIMMs for capacity, you'll have to splash out but that's not much of an issue as anyone needing more than 16GB is rare enough to pay the premium.
