If you squint a bit it looks exactly the same as a 6990 to me (a bit shorter maybe).
What we know:-
Will recapture the single card performance crown for NV.
Will set new standards in power consumption.
Will set new standards on heat.
Will give better perf/power than other GF 100/110 cards.
Will be speed limited via power control.
Will be the most expensive single card.
You know, I'm not too sure. *if* they stick to that TDP, and their way of measuring is remotely comparable, I think AMDs bluff might have worked. At least until a driver update that raises the cap..
first the 6990 and now the gtx590 - finally the high have moved away from pci-e compliance `officially` (since even pci-sig arnt bothered) and unleashing the `full monty`
NVidia's problem is how high the power draw on a GTX580 is compared to a 6970 to start with. Hexus' gaming power draw test puts the GTX580 70W ahead of the 6970, with the 6990 another 60W on. So in gaming AMD have managed to budget that second 6970 core @ 6950 speed for another 130W. If NVidia are giving themselves less total TDP to play with, and are 70W behind AMD at gaming loads anyway, they're going to have to do one of
a) power limit the card severely (and lets remember that their power limiting approach is less elegant and more brute-force-ish than AMDs)
b) cut the shipping clocks *very* hard to reduce power consumption
c) do something *exceptional* in terms of card engineering

This was taken from another site, but they might have downclocked to around 600MHz for the GPU. The 1024 CUDA cores, will end up at around 1200MHz, while the memory should be set at around 3400MHz and paried up with a 2x384-bit memory interface
