    Thanks for the review. I was really tempted to get the 120gb model of this but then I realised i could get another 6970 for an extra £45 Does anyone know if they are going to release a 60gb vertex 3 model?

    Re: Reviews - OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD review

    From your conclusion it seems sensible to go for a Vertex 2 for your system drive - because performance of day-to-day activities isn't noticeably quicker with the 3 - then maybe get a Vertex 3 as a data drive.

    For me the take home message is that the RevoDrive X2 is a monster! And very reasonably priced too given the performance.

    Just out of interest, does the controller make any difference?

    I'm snookered without a 6Gbps controller on my current P45 board but I'm considering, assuming everything is as is supposed to be, an AMD Bulldozer upgrade... so, basically, is a current AMD 6Gbps controller as good as/better than an Intel controller with this thing?

    Yeah thats a good idea. Could you do a speed comparison using an AMD 890fx board vs a sandy bridge motherboard?

    as asc99c says, this drive pales in comparison to the revo x2 drive in the stats. The prices on Scan are £455 for the vertex and £463 for the revo x2.

    Aside from a shortage of pci-e slots, why would anyone go for the vertex drive ?

    looks to me like the next thing to happen in SSD's is the budget market will explode. I'm considering an SSD as my boot device which I wouldn't have even contemplated acouple of months ago...

    Re: Reviews - OCZ Vertex 3 240GB SSD review

    @CooperXS.
    the laptop idea is very true, never thought of that. That would be real nice. As for TRIM, hasn't the revo drive x2 got some sort of garbage collection to carry out the same function?

    The main issue for me would be mobo compatibility, with only a few people managing to get one of these revo x2 to work with my aged 680i.

    After all that a 120gb vertex 3 may be what I go for, I'll get a boost now and another boost for sata 6 when I upgrade later this year, if Bulldozer appears. A gift that keeps on giving, so to speak.

    It was one of the best upgrades I have made in a long time. Really noticable improvment with windoze and apps/games.

    Very nice but I will stick with my vertex 2 for the time being I think.
