ram is ofc doable since the 7970 also uses it (Hynix H5GQ2H24MFR-R0C)

Those two dates, 12 and 23 March, seem to be popping up quite a bit the last few days, and 'end of March' has been getting said by a few sources too. I hope it's true; AMD need some competition right now.

Pity AMD has pricing strategy that matches that of monopoly. No wonder everyone is waiting for NVidia.

Monopoly? I dont think you have read what you posted , it cant be a monopoly....

AMD is pricing their cards to compete with Nvidia cards, they use less power perform the same (overclock better) and cost the same... seriously how is that a monopoly?. Im pretty sure Nvidia is the company that can be assigned monopoly pricing strategies a good few years ago but now both are rather competitive.

If AMD released their cards and changed double Nvidia then yes id agree but only if everyone still bought them . AMD are recouping R&D, prices will drop and Nvidia will be at a disadvantage here as they came to the market later (as is their development schedule) since they lack any "free" competition months so cant price a bit higher than they could sell at to regain the development costs quicker.

Regardless though i whole heartedly agree that Nvidia need to arrive asap to drop the AMD prices below current gen to make them even better .

It does look as though Nvidia chips are going to be good mind, if this spec is anything to look at! 3x the amount of shaders is quite insane

However I really expect a flop , hopefully its not the case .

I think I'm expecting good performance.. but an even higher price tag to match. They seem to like creating new price point while there's still inventory floating around.

I'm expecting something like a fermi release. The real meaty card, the 7970 beater, will be 6 months away. This one will be good, between 7950 and 7970, but not the new king.
It's the pricing that will be key.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

People are saying it has four arses and no mouth.

I'm just glad we're having to sit through all those tesselation demos done by large men this time around.

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Specifications Revealed?

Yes Phage i think thats probably more like the Nvidia we know , if im honest i was expecting AMD cards to be a pile of poop since its totally new (like fermi...) which is why i think the 8000 series will actually build on the 7000 performance alot.

So i think a possible scenario is:

AMD Cards are top(currently released) ---> Nvidia release Kepler, OK performance but extremely power hungry again, people buy AMD as its still the better option ---> Nvidia reduce prices to try and compete, AMD also reduce prices... stays the same ---> Nvidia release a new gtx660 style chip and Nvidia starts looking solid in price/performance and ok in power effciency, mid range taken by nvidia ---> AMD release 8000 series, destroys everything ---> Nvidia releases Next gen cards that destroy 8k series.

    Rinse and repeat?

I would like to think nVidia learnt a lot from the fermi launch and won't need a re-spin for the new cards to be competitive in all aspects.

Sorry, forgot to ad, courtesy of j.o.s.h.1408 Yeah.. Everyone in this forum has an opinion, I will wait for proper benchmark and then we will see what's where Oh and IMO AMD sucks (freedom of opinion, hey?).
