    xmas 08 in philippines

Hi everyone. i went to the philippined a few months ago and took some pics on a DSLR canon 400d.

im no pro at photography and barely know what apperture and shutter speeds are but here are my noob attempts at taking pics using the stock lens and a 55mm F1.8 portait lens that i got as a xmas present.

All files are hosted in Picasa as i can only upload 100mb worth of pics in flickr

    here it goes

As you can see from the above pics, im not quite good at taking pics yet but im still learning though. i use AV and Tv settings on the camera atm. any advice you can give me will be awsome thanks for your time.

Some of those are really good mate!

I love the first one - loads of nice texture and the interesting bits are all exposed correctly IMHO.

#4 I like a lot too in terms of colours, shame about the window reflections.

#7 has great composition and focusing

Like #8 too and #10 is very nice as well

The landscape ones haven't come out too well but I don't think that's hugely your fault - the scenes haven't given you the nicest light to work with. You could maybe saturate the colours a bit more on the sunset, perhaps change the white balance so it's warmer too. Muddy river is muddy. The hill mound shot you might be able to improve by increasing the contrast and perhaps doing some work to lessen the haze.

Nice photos. Reminds me of my time in Hinoba-an. We managed to get 15 people on one of those Motorbike-sidecar taxis! Lol.

    Any pictures of a Jeepney?

haha are you serious? hehe i diddnt send you my best pics a few nights ago because i was saving it for this thread but thanks for your advice and tips though

im going to see if i can add some HDR effects as a mate at work was telling me how easy it can be to apply it and how great images can be in that mode such as the one you did with your mates car.

cheers again all for your time in seeing my pics just looking at them now makes me wanna go back there away from the snow rainy cold weather here
