Well that is been pre-ordered.

Sold, really appeals having a flag ship device and getting the updates first!
Be warned on Google Flagship products. I had the Nexus S which was a turkey!
Damn it so poor at the moment (Getting married in October). Otherwise I'd definitely be interested. Would have preferred a 10.1" version though (I have 5.3" note so this isn't a big improvement in screen estate).
Oooh, that's a damned good price - especially the little 8GB one - that'd be great for use as a general web device/colour eReader. Damn shame that all my money's already spoken for, (car insurance, house insurance, holiday+insurance, etc... I hate this time of year)
Oh and the full deal is:
Of course, if you're not a fan of Shia LaBeouf then that's probably not much of an incentive to buy.For a limited time, includes £15 of credit to spend in the Play store, as well as some great free content like your own copy of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
No! That's the whole point of a "Nexus" device - the updates are done properly (i.e. the Apple way) going from OS/device maker direct to customer. Plus, Asus (who actually make the tablet) have a darned good track record for updating their tablets.
There is one thing I don't understand about all these tablets... the cost of more memory.
The 8Gb is £159, the 16Gb is £199... that's £40 for just 8Gb more?!?!
If you look on Amazon you can by an 64Gb SD Card for that! Even better you can buy 4 x 32Gb for £12.99 = 128Gb for just £51.96.
Surely a manufacturer pays a lot less than that? Even if they are using better types of memory than that found in an standard SD card, by the time you take into account their manufacturer's bulk discounts it should work out pretty cheap.
So to me all these tablets are a rip off!
As far as I'm concerned a £199 tablet should come with about 128Gb of memory... minimum!
/pre-ordered last night
I'd wait for another 2 years then, lol...or maybe you should crowd source funding to build one at that price?
....but you're correct £40 for an extra 8gb seems excessive..but then Apple charge £80 for 16gb extra.....and remember that the UK government gets £8 of the extra £40!
Charging so much for increased memory is a little bit like popcorn.
People that are prepared to pay a 10er for the cinema will buy popcorn people that aren't just buy a ticket.
People that are prepared to spend £200 on a table will buy the higher memory version. It's a way of getting people to spend different amounts on the same thing.
I had the same thoughts there Jim. I've been umming and ahhing about getting a Galaxt Tab 7.7 for a while and the bezel on that is tiny by comparison, at least when in landscape orientation. Guess it would make holding the tablet easier, even if its a bit ugly, though it might make it a little bit trickier to get your thumbs across for gaming (Depending on size of hands).
Really want to get one, but would have to be the 16gb one, as 8 just wouldnt be enough to get films and music onto. Are the prices a pre-order special? Or can we expect it to be the same once released? Might wait until some reviews are out etc...
lol@comment for £200 for 128GB of flash storage hand held device? Not even Apple offer this... Not now, maybe 3-5 years!
Does it not take an sdcard then?
