Is that video for real? Their names make me think it's a spoof or wind-up!

Hugo Barra, aka huge barrage to overcome the issues with the previous gen of products
Tim Quirk, I hope they've fixed the issues and created a truly global content place
Matias Duarte, User Experience director, i.e the chap looking after the look and feel. Yep, "I do arty".
Gabe Cohen, the product manager sounds so desperate to make it a success. Funny his name is an anagram for each beg on. (OK, I looked that one up!)

    LOL

After reading this I am very happy with my decision to purchase the Nexus 7. It performs well being the best in some instances, which is absurd considering its price.

Usb otg supported but not mounting as storage natively according to that anandtech article update at bottom. Probably just a case of flashing a hacked kernel over or something hopefully, this will make it much better if possible.

I've ordered one. A bit of an impulse buy but I'm sure I wont be disappointed. There's an interesting comment on the anandtech review

You say that but in a moving car it's still pretty hard to get a consistent fast signal, if wifi on planes becomes standard then no problem there. As long as mods come out letting it mount a usb stick that'll do because it will probably be used for films etc. on planes so 8Gb + a 32Gb stick is plenty for me. Tbh 8Gb is probably enough but when you've got apps etc on there maybe not.

Was there any mention of gps? Maybe that's doable through a usb dongle?

Wifi on planes is really expanding at the moment, any of the Wifi even the old stuff works just fine.

But for watching films, nah. Even in economy you'll be better off with the built in seat ones, you'd have to figure out a way of propping it up so you can watch it comfortably without reflecting light from windows etc, then if you want to eat you'll be screwed.

I did 26 hours last week in a mixture of hell long hall. I had my Kindle my iPad and my Ultrabook. Kindle was used a bit for reading a book, utlrabook for some work I had to do.

The point I'm making is tablet for watching films on, nope. Compared to a built in thing, which posistions really well, keeps out of my lap, lets me drink and eat with ease, they have to have a shocking lack of videos on the plane!

I did 10 hours to cancun in april and there was nothing good on (and too many kids). Maybe one of the suction cup mounts could be useful here. But you're right it's probably going to be more for web browsing and games. That'll make a 10 hour flight fly by, hmmmm... I'm sure between my s3 and one of these battery life will last it out.

Already done a couple of big flash drives, so a single connection hdd would have been possible I would think, SSD disk crate definitely (lower power draw than an HDD?). I don't have a DSLR (not wealthy enough, or that much of a photography "nut") so I personally can't vouch for that. However, given the Transformer is on the list of supported devices for Chainfire's "DSLR controller" then I would have thought this do-able too.

Really which airline? I've never had a problem. I've flown about 14 different airlines (all economy ) so far this year.

I think its a case of how you pack them.

What I'm getting at is hoping a very small low power device will do something my core i5 laptop can barely do as well as my desktop, for the sake of what is probably just a miss understanding.
