Any reason this couldn't have been done on a cross-platform/vendor standard?

Because it was funded by a developer demo'ing their proprietary kit?

Nvidia doesn't want to share the pie. It's bad for the end user, but, then again, Nvidia never claimed to be a charity.

It doesn't matter too much, though. This sort of thing is years away from appearing in anything other than tech demos, particularly in these console-infested times.

There was a minor glitch in the supplemental lighthouse video which sent a glob of water across the screen for some strange reason. So, it seems that it wasn't worked out quite right as of yet.

Better than the bugs in games that are released though!

yeah noticed that to there was about 3 or 4 of them .. they just need to tweak it so these break and desolve into the air ..
but will be very good for games of the future .. or even the holo deck ..
What does it matter now if men believe or no?

I love to see this stuff go realtime, imagine the first Bioshock with this implemented!

PhysX actually works on all GPUs and even the CPU, I lost some sympathy for AMD when it turns out they refused to pay the 1p per GPU to license PhysX way back when it all started, that created a bigger rift.

Re: News - Nvidia devs show off new water effects engine

Not licensing a competitors product is one thing, but going out of your way to seek and actively block your own product from working if another device from your competitor is present in the system is just petty. Hobbling the software versions of PhysX on PC compared to consoles is also daft.

Will be interesting to see how it survives now all the consoles are AMD anyway.

AMD don't have to worry. They have technology that makes hair look really good.

Yeah, I saw that the fur on that bunny was very unrealistic.

What? I notice things like that. ;o)
