This could be a quantum leap forward, or just a white elephant....I'm hoping for the former!

What about those of us who already wear glasses and can't use contacts?

reminds me of that film with Steve Martin the jerk ...
    but more high tech ...
but it's a good first step towards being a cyborg
What does it matter now if men believe or no?
What is to come will come. And soon you too will stand aside,
To murmur in pity that my words were true
    (Cassandra, in Agamemnon by Aeschylus)

To see the wizard one must look behind the curtain ....

The glasses come with clip-in lenses - you can have youe prescription made up as you would with any other frame.

Really hope this becomes a lot more subtle in future revsions, I've been wearing glasses for a year now and could see myself using these a lot. Either that or the smartwatch as I presume both show notifications and relevant info through pairing with your phone. Also is this thing rain proof?

Seriously guys.... Think carefully about the kind of world that these sort of devices will usher in if they become commonplace... Do you want to live in a world where everyone around you are constantly videoing you ? You will eventually be coerced into videoing your own every moment so that you can disprove someone else's accusations using faked video... we will all be doing Big Brother's job for him and all because you can't be bothered to take a phone out of your pocket when you need it...

I doubt I'll use daily for video, I don't do anything that exciting daily, might be great on holiday though.

Each to his own, I guess, but I can't think of any reason I'd wear this kind of technology on a casual basis. For a very specific purpose at very specific times, maybe, but only for a particular short-term purpose.

And there are absolutely NO circumstances whatever under which I'd wear them if it sync's back to a cloud service, let alone Google.

Re: News - Google Glass processor and RAM specs revealed

My only concern is that the "screen" appears right in your field of view. If they could do it so the screen appeared to be off to one side or below the eyeline it'd be much more useful.

If they could do that, I'd be very tempted to buy a pair just for biking - wearable video camera for recording incident, with sat nav, distance and speed estimates from GPS ... whole variety of functions I'd quite like, in one easy-to-wear device? Sure, why not

EDIT: OK, just watched a video on one of the other stories about this that shows a nice little screen in the top right corner of vision. If it actually works like that, I'm sold. Where do I buy some?

Cameras are already everywhere, the proliferation of machines with "eyes" will only increase this. There are hidden camera spectacles, badges etc already. You're already watched, if you don't like it you'll have to stay at home and brick up your windows or move to Mongolia...

Besides it won't be long before fake video becomes so convincing that video evidence will be totally untrustworthy without at least an expert forensic examination... it's already good enough to fool you on a hi-res cinema screen, and the world seems to accept very grainy CCTV as 'evidence' on a regular basis.... how many people must have been wrongly arrested based on CCTV through similar clothing etc - I bet it's a number that's rising.

Anonymity comes from the sheer scale of humanity, of all the hundreds maybe thousands of people I walk past each day how likely is it really that I give a flying crap about their lives? Even if I catch a man with his mistress how the hell would I know it's not his wife, what are the chances of me meeting his wife and showing her the video? Bloomin tiny. Just need to crack on, be a nice person with nothing to hide and stop worrying!

Yeah, just wait 'til the Man zeroes in on your life and see how far the 'nothing to hide, nothing to fear' argument gets you...
