So basically, if Toshy don't buy OCZ, OCZ will probably fade away.
Well, I have purchased a number of their revo drives for work over the past year since they are the cheapest price point, and apart from a single driver issue, they have been great for quick and cheap ssd storage. Hopefully ocz survive.
I actually wouldn't mind. OCZ already is pulling back from other hardware, if they were bought out by Toshiba and became their SSD specialty wing, I think that would great, maybe even better because they are such a large company. Toshiba is solid.
Not unexpected but will be a shame to see OCZ disappear, loving my Vectors. I only experienced their RAM at the very end of their DRAM business and was shocked to see them leave as I got great performance.
I'm not feeling totally convinced by this deal if it goes ahead, I get a sense Toshiba will focus on their enterprise / mass oem offerings and we wont really see anything decent at consumer/enthusiast level but time will tell.
i can't help not to feel a little sorry for them a pity!
Seeing as toshibas controllers are gash I can see why they might want to get ocz for theirs.
i dont like toshiba ssd's nor hdd's. but if they acquire ocz they would gain a lot
Toshiba has a lot to gain, but I guess perhaps they might let them rot a bit longer before they rescue them at a cheaper price...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
I'm also an OCZ ssd user and it will be sad to know if OCZ will fade out soon. they need to have just one great idea to be stable again. could be an ssd, hdd, etc... that would have the edge on other competitors. if they can't then might as well sell their company to other strong and stable companies out there.
OCZ tried to hush tech sites when they discovered just how poor JMicron controller SSDs were.
They didn't tell customers that they reduced both size and performance on the Vertex 2 drives when they transitioned to 25nm node technology (packaging/labellingdidn't change but the product definitely did in a very negative way). No recalls were issued.
No UK warranty address last time I checked...
Those are some of the biggest things that bugged me about this dodgy company. It is amazing that they made such a big come back about a decade ago. They had an extremely bad rep before that in the US.
