My raspberry pi is overclocked to 1.2 ghz, doesn't improve it's performance very much though as I got the older 256mb ram version.

Not really a tech hack but I do have a vmware HA cluster made of Microservers, full DRS and everything going on. Good fun!

CPU cooler is held onto an AM2+ slot using the intel mounting bracket upside down and a few cable ties.
couldn't be bothered RMAing it to scan because I got 'too tall' ram.

3 1/2 years later its still on

I once cobbled together a dust filtering box with 4x120mm fans made of glossed chipboard sheets to cover my server up in the loft powered with a regular 12v DC power plug through a socket I soldered myself. Never had a problem with it in years of use.

Not really a hack, but I was dead chuffed after replacing the capacitors in my dead monitor and bringing it back to life.

Installing Android on my HP Touchpad, although again not really a hack as I followed a guide!

I made an internal USB plugs adapter for my PC a couple months back using an xbox 360 USB front ports riser card and a pc motherboard usb header adapter that came with an old asus motherboard.

I made a solar powered water filter for my mums duck pond about six months ago (because the ducks like to defecate in the water) with a solar panel , a small water pump, a large plastic bottle, some cottonwool and charcoal.

Xbox 360 AV cable hack to make the audio output digital coax instead of optical. Very proud of that one and works a treat. Not the most technically challenging I know!

I made an under counter kitchen PC from an old laptop and parts, it kinda worked!

I used PC cold cathodes in the boot and foot wells on my car, of course wired in to the sensors to come on when the relevant door was opened.

I've got 4 set aside to do just that. Is it simple enough to do, such as simply wiring the cathodes straight to the door switches ?

I made a trackball controller out of an old optical mouse turned upside down with a quality roller ball from a mans deodorant... Due to the mouse being upside down the axis were wrong so had to use a program to correct it (Sakasa) and I'm still using it 3 years later!

Depends on the car, in short I used a separate 12v from the battery then hooked the negatives to the door/boot earths.
