Glad to see another mSATA drive. When I was looking around for one previously, the two main options available were Crucial and Plextor.
If I had to get a new one now, it could well be Samsung though I have absolutely no complaints about my Plextor M5M. Need to see how the pricing goes though the Evo branding makes me think it will be middle~high in the market.
Really impressed with the 256GB 840 EVO I bought
So, 3 years max to the end of mechanical drives then? After all, SSDs will be able to pass the size barrier holding standard drives up far easier, and they're dropping in cost all the time...
Which, I would suggest, makes the WD Black^2 look even more of a niche product than it was previously. Assuming, of course, that the laptop you've got HAS an mSATA connector and that the mSATA EVO isn't some astoundingly high price.Samsung suggests the new drive can be used alongside another storage device, even within a notebook, thanks to its compact dimensions and light weight.
This Should Get In All UltraBooks, Tablets & NoteBooks!
Wish I could afford one of these
So has a price been announced for this 1TB drive then??[/QUOTE]

Seems that its £509.99
Make a good competition prize!
I love the size comparison to the old 2.5 inch drives
I doubt it but it'd be nice
The cost of mechanical drives will drop while capacity increases as well so I'd still see them having a role to play in data storage for some time. After all you don't need all that speed to play movies and look at photos so SSD's would be wasted on storage for these purposes.
Awesome!
Hopefully means that the smaller size SSDs will get cheaper.
I need an SSD upgrade bad.
