Re: News - Homeworld Remastered Collection announced

The biggest problem with Homeworld was that when you played Homeworld 2 going back to the older control mechanisms was just so annoying.

So yeah, in line to cough up some cash!

Re: News - Homeworld Remastered Collection announced

It never hurts to go back and remaster a classic game, but to do that and add additional features to it that are more inline with todays gaming experiences......well that's just effin brilliant!!

    Definitely for the library

It's probably a good time to state the obvious, like Homeworld, there's a raft of classic games that, with a lick of paint and some additional modernisation would actually sell well and give current raft of games a proper slapping....bring it on!!

Dont buy it till you have seen the reviews! After the farce that was Duke Nuken Forever and the even worse development of Alien Colonial marines where they lied and showed off a game that looked better than the final version... lost faith in Gearbox so I wont preorder, I shall await until reviews come out and proof that they have not ruined it!

Yes, will have to see. Could be taking advantage of a loved franchise. They need to work on HL2's balancing mechanism.

    And no Cataclysm

Agreed, I still keep a 4:3 monitor to play hardwar on, but thats not because games used to be better, its just because good old games are better than mediocre new games. good new games are still good.

Homeworld 1 prob my fave game of all time. When they said about the HD remakes I got silly excited, now they are full remastered I'm even more excited

Might actually be the 1st collectors edition of something I've purchased for a decade.

Damn you! Just spent half hour padding my hard drive to below 2Gb to install this and I am now looking at the mods/patches people have made. I know what I'm doing this weekend. Considering this game is 16 years old, I am slightly disturbed by how much of it I can still remember after all that time.

And that goes for the original Homeworld as well. As long as the remastering is basically a graphical overhaul and maybe some UI tweaks, then it should be good. I will keep an eye on it and hope they don't somehow screw it up in some way.
