lovely, not sure if I already have this on steam (is it on steam, or have I got it confused with another title) is it first or third person?
aha answered my own question - well one of em, it's 1st person
Dead Space is 3rd person....and one of the most atmospheric games I've played.
For best results play it at night, in the dark, on your own with surround sound

Good guy EA...?
That feels wrong...
Wow Dead Space for free, was gonna wait a bit long but what the heck ill download it now.
This is probably to celebrate the fact that they were knocked out of the "Worst Company In America" very recently after having "Won" it the last two years in a row.
Finally, they're giving away something that is actually worth spending time on...
I wish they'd give Dead Space 2 as well, or at least update the funky mouse controls that feel like Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
I started playing this a while ago.
I came to a doorway and couldnt work out how to open it (I had a weapon of some sort) I was like 10 minutes in and gave up lol
Nice one

I have it on steam and it's 3rd person. A little tip for any takers on the offer: Turn on v-sync. For a few weeks I thought it was a crap game as the movement was all jerky and stuff, but then i googled to see if anyone else had the same problem.
Beat me to it
Yeah definitely take off V-Sync. It causes horrible mouse lag which means your turn speed is about halved. Or if you fancy the extra level difficulty leave it on.
If you do turn it off, it can cause some serious lighting/environmental issues (did for me - strobe like effects on the lights, particularly through the initial chase scene). If I remember right you can fix it forcing Vsync on via Nvidia CP which won't cause the mouse lag but will render the game correctly. Best of both worlds.
I didn't know the strobe lights were not supposed to be there. I've played this game with all settings on low @720p, I didn't have a GPU back then so that's that
This game has given me a different perspective. I'm the type of gamer that tries to finish a game in a single day. Dead Space 1 isn't really that long but I had to take breaks after 1-2 hours of...seeing things...then I google something like "cute golden retriever puppies" then after that I have this huge headache that won't allow me to play any game...That's pretty much Dead Space for me.
