Darn...I just bought an FX 8320 last month. Still, nice to see prices dropping.
'AMD says the FX 9590's greater multi-core ability will give it a clear and obvious lead for power users'
Unless you care about your electricity bill.
I was looking at building a FX6300+R9 270/280 system earlier in the year, but decided to stick with my laptop until Excavator/Skylake comes out next year, when a few PC games like Star Citizen will be out.
They do need to a damn sight more than drop the price to get me to consider using them anytime soon.
Lack of good looking motherboards really. MSI's gaming series boards with M.2 and Sata Express look really appealing at the moment.

I think the price drop makes the FX chips very competative. Well worth it if you're already running an AM3 board. But if not, buying into a dead end chipset with a chip that consumes tonnes of power doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Other than wanting to support Amd more than Intel! I hope this gives them a boost in sales so that we can see a real top end Cpu competitor from them, on a new chipset of course
Must say, even as an AMD fan i'd never buy one of these chips (Intel's history of anticompetitive behaviour has permanently put me off them).
The 125W rating of my current 8120 CPU is a bit excessive, 220W just takes it into silly places...
What 3 new 8 series FX CPU's are they talking about? only ones i knew was the new FX-8300 and a Athlon 860K for FM2 socket.
Damn, just got a FX8350.

Ok, I got it at £119

It's be a decent deal if not for the fact that AMD cpu's are so badly supported with many games it makes them pointless to get as a gamer.
Don't think there's a single MMO out there that AMD even gets half the FPS that an Intel CPU get, it's so bad.
^^What? CPU support in games? Do you mean multi-threaded support, or simply the lower performance per core of AMD CPUs, because I'd love to see evidence that no AMD CPU can get half of 'an Intel' CPU based system's FPS in an MMO.
