You don't need a screen that big do ya? I mean, If I watch a video in a higher res than my screen can do, it looks better than when it's at the native res. Isn't that also a form of anti aliasing? Arma 3 can render the game in a higher res than your screen's native, so that it looks less jagged when you see it. It'll just be a case of whether Netflix let people stream at a higher res than their screen does, because currently, it doesn't seem to let you do that.

That isn't normally anti-aliasing so much as just higher bitrate.

You can see that even on Sky standard definition channels, some are a pretty good picture and some are just a fuzzy mess despite being the same res.

Supersampling only works for me when the screen resolution is 2.5k+. Every time I have tried it on 1080p screens I have found the IQ to be lesser and actually cause jaggies.

I just got confused about needing a massive screen. Because you wouldn't need a screen that can actually do a certain res to see the benefits in detail from that res. But yeh, I do notice the compression sometimes. I sometimes find there's a bit of a grainy look when there shouldn't be. I also see some noise in the picture when there shouldn't be. But, sometimes I think it could just be my tv I can't blame them for compressing though. A lot of people probably don't have the bandwidth for higher quality, plus their bills would be a lot more pricey. I have no idea what they can and can't afford..

Surely the issue is streaming technology itself? It's all contrant bitrate so can look a bit blocky in busy scenes.

Hence why the pirated torrent at 6mbps variable bitrate will always look better. Same size but more information.

Unless you're downsamppling 2x2 then atefacts will be introduced. So for 1080p you should really be aiming for 2160p for jaggy free DS.
