Dont really see a point in the steam app until you can in home stream to it.

Used it a number of times to buy something in sales last minute, while out and about - Can also Remote-Install if Steam is open at home, so it's ready to go by the time you get back!

Streaming is definitely must have functionality. Wonder why its taking so long? The app itself does have some use - for example checking out steam sales quickly but its not massively useful.

I don't see any update yet but I hope it works now, because after the last update they broke it and I can't even close the app... it keep opening on its own...

Is it not a combination of reason for the lack of streaming:

    - The lack of hardware decoding for the video stream and software decoding not being quick enough
    - The generally poor networking capabilities of mobile devices. Even phones with WIFI AC are just kind of meh.

I'm also not seeing it on the store yet, I'll wait until the store updates it, suspect its a regional rollout thing.

That said, I only ever use the app for sales and talking to friends while on my phone so functionally it probably wont be too much difference, if it eradicates some of the lag in the app thats good for me as the old version has quite a few freezes in places while it loads.

Re: Valve's Steam Android app updated, jumps from v1.1 to v2.0

I use the steam app to check sales, read the News Feed, view friend activity, and remote install etc. Also, I use the newly integrated SteamGuard generator.

I for one am happy the update is here. Even if it took 3 years!

I couldn't have said it better myself! The Steam app does have a load of useful features especially for those not present on their computer [or laptop]. Having an updated and improved mobile interface makes it all the more merrier. This can be a life saver in the Steam sales!

Well, that explains, why I couldn't stream Skyrim in good quality over LAN to my Note 10.1 about two years ago using an app made by a small developer. Oh, wait, I could easily do it. So much for the poor performance and networking.

You can stream PS4 to a Sony Z3/compact can't you?

I'd have thought there are many steam games which would be easier than PS4 games to stream.

Integration between MS devices is one of the key selling points for W10 and W10M, I'm looking forward to that, what I would like to see is an app for Steam on my phone giving me access to same features on the Android version, which is something that Windows Phone users have been campaigning for with no luck for at least 2 years and as far as I know Steam have not even responded to the massive threads on the subject. Maybe it will come out when they launch Half Life 3.
