A renewed push for after sales software support. Nothing upsetting there!

Good news! I've never been a fan of CCC. Now for Nvidia to follow suit and update their Control Panel.
Just as long as they continue to allow fine-grained control of package components. Will not be happy if they follow nVidia's lead and mandate information send back to their servers or geforce experience type things.
Now, I know I'm often out of the loop, but last I checked we were approaching 2016. Not 2017. Or did I somehow miss out on a New Year's Eve? Oh noes...
also, as much as amd are pushing for mantle/vulcan/dx12 with the new drivers and support, i hope crimson at least has some sort of push on improving the situation with dx11 support :< it would be great that at this phase of the game, where people are interested again in amd for dx12, to get improved dx11 support at the end of 2015 with crimson :-)

8 second startup for CCC - were they running this test on a netbook from 2008?!
I just launched it now and it took under 3 seconds. And my PC is a few generations old!
People seem to rip on AMD drivers, but they have been rock solid for me ever since I switched to the red team a few months ago. I agree with @kalniel - if they're going in the same direction as nVidia with this Crimson branding, that would be a bad move...
Su
3 seconds for me too

On a netbook from 2011 actually, I have one though I upgraded mine from 3GB to 6GB of ram.
Dual core 1.6GHz E350 APU, an 11.6" nice & compact display. It was £300, and the sad part is I would update it but I can't find anything better these days. They are all unaffordablebooks or gutless 1GHz tripe, nothing in the middle.
Still, rant over, monthly updates is good. Now, about those Linux drivers...
Edit to add: I see from the slides it is based on the cross platform QT framework! Now, about those Linux drivers...
Ok it is a little sad but I had to test how long CCC takes to start.
And under 2 seconds on my machine.
lol, yeah OK I will bite. About a second and a half for me, Win 7 and an SSD though.
Scarily I don't think it is any faster opening a second time, perhaps it is so badly written it needs more than 16GB or ram to cache it
Hmm: stares at spare SSD and netbook. No, I'm not so interested that I would do a Windows re-install!
interesting thing about this for me:
My laptop is a lenovo x121e (AMD E-450 APU) Does this mean they're fixing the broken APU drivers for win10 on windows update? (seriously, the windows 10 drivers have utterly broken video hardware acceleration. Forget watching any video on websites with them. luckily the catalyst 15.6beta drivers still work flawlessly in win10*)AMD RTG claims that the new Radeon Setting app starts up 10x faster than Catalyst Control Center (CCC). On an HP Pavilion DM1 with an AMD-E350 APU and 3GB of RAM
In regards to CCC startup speed, 8 seconds sounds about right. It's not far off what i get with said laptop and that is with double the RAM and a SSD drive too
*ironically, this is the only AMD driver problem i've noticed in the past 5 years of using AMD GPUs, making this win10 fault all the more weird)
