Chizzit?
It might be 'powerful and small' but my god that is ugly. When will designers realise these steam machines are supposed to go in the living room with the rest of our av gear....at least xbox/playstation make an effort to look 'higher end' for a games console.
3gb 960gtx huh?
i hate when they release these mobile cards with same names as regular ones, so confusing... at least add M or something to name
I still don't really 'get' these. It looks to be essentially a small form factor gaming PC - I'm a bit confused why anyone wouldn't just spend the same (probably) money on either a proper PC or a PS4/Xbox One.
These will catch on because since I was 10 I wanted my computer on my TV which I was finally able to do (with readability)when the flat screens came out with their built in VGA. The only problem that was left I now had this honking big PC case to deal with (plus wires because you know wireless peripherals were garbage back in the early 2000's, still kinda are. but theses "Steam Boxes" are also good enough to run Windows not just SteamOS but that is what the come with by default, and with M$ currently not being favored (while the core of the OS is solid, their practices on fixing the pebcak errors are not very wise.)...
Anyways these will catch on because they are small form factor with decent gaming ability, prices will be reduced eventually regardless because they will be more 'mass produced' as they catch on.
I'm sure they (ones like Zotac's design) will support being VESA mounting to the back of your tv or something, but I know what you mean.
USD Steam pre-order price is $999.99 - probably translate to £699 here if we're lucky - not really Console DNA pricing!

Multiroom?
I get these little units but my only concern as a consumer would be the after sales support and availability of replacement parts for them. If the likes of Curries, PC World or even Game start selling these they're unlikely to do a decent job, giving Steam Machines a bad reputation.
If that's going to be almost £700 surely it's not worth it? I bet you could build a more powerful, better looking mITX rig for that money.
How.... how does this compare to the Alienware Alpha?
That is all
