about time. AMD must feel they have a chance now as long as everything goes right.
I thing AMD's problem is not only Lithography I thing amd have important problems on harwere-to-software layer compatibility
Personally, I think their main issue is image.
They have allowed themselves to fall behind the competition by too much for too long, combine that with recent articles regarding who is making money and who is losing it, and AMD starts to look like a failure in many peoples eyes.
They have one huge mountain to climb o get back where they were.

I hope that AMD close the gap with Intell.
For desktop-pc intell is not doing much to increase compute power. For a gamer I still use a 2500k on 4,2 ghz. and the only upgrades in the last 3.5 years was a ssd and a gtx970.
Thanks for the giggle.
This is a big drop in size, 50% smaller.
Be interesting to see how the new CPU and GPU chips will perform, not only as upgrades for their older chips, but against intel and nvidia.
And will they require a new motherboard upgrade?
Have to presume that they will work with the latest memory modules.
How will they work with the new PCIe ssd's.
Et cetera.
Not enough info yet, but enough to wet the appetite.
Here's hoping that it will improve the brand battle, that can only improve things for the us, the consumer.
Its not purely AMD's fault for failing, if you look across the boards in the pact few decades IQ's are dropping at an alarming rate. People are just more ignorant and more mindless, where they would buy the same brand no matter the quality if their first product was the same brand.
Its this blind worship of the first brand, its like a girlfriend who's still with her abusing boyfriend because it was her first and has been with him for a while and feel comfortable in a twisted way with him, rather than alone and would rather take the beating, take the molestation, take the abuse, etc...
Finally there is the bought and paid for shill media who put Nvidia at a pedestal, I haven't seen 1 negative review about a Nvidia graphic in the past 5 years, show me 1 product that received negative review?
The GTX Titan Z which was a 10x times overpriced useless turd, NO ONE reviewed because they didn't want to give it bad scores, bad reviews, so they ignored it as if it didn't exist in order to not give Nvidia bad review.
So NO GPU from Nvidia has had EVEN 1 bad review in the past 5 years, if you disagree show me only 1, only ONE review that is actually negative, that says this is a bad card don't buy it. SHOW me!
50% in feature size. In terms of die size and hence transistors you can fit in, area is square of the feature size so you should be able to fit 4x the stuff on there. OK, modern processes don't scale so well, but still it should be a stonking upgrade.
I have seen comments that 10nm is the one to really watch out for. That could be another golden node that lasts for years, like 28nm did.
