This was always going to get messy.
Expect support for all existing X99 Asus boards to be non-existent from now on.
I'll never buy Asus again after paying the premium for the Black Edition Rampage IV - its still on a beta bios and has been completely abandoned.
Asus only seem interested in selling us new products, not supporting them.
They've been doing this for years - I don't even look at Asus products any more when I'm shopping for new components.Originally Posted by zoomee

Tbh I don't think any other board manufacturer is any different re legacy support. With the X79 boards Asus teased that they may support pcie nvme boot support through a bios update but it never officially materialized. It's only through pure fluke that my Asus X79 board unofficially supports it and I can boot off my Intel P3500.

Gigabyte have brilliant support - they were still providing unoffical bioses and fixes for X58 motherboards last time I checked via their forums. Had a great experience with ASrock well out of usual support period too.
No, but the latest is a beta.
Not seen an Asus rep in the official Rampage v extreme flagship board forums for MONTHS, they are beyond pitiful when they did stick a cursor in there so it has actually improved things as we now have an active BIOS modding community doing the things we paid a premium for. I will never spend money on ASUS again.

Meh my rampage appears to work fine with Xeon V4s and has been a super nice board to work with. However, we bought Gigabyte/MSI Boards for all the workstations.

The latest BIOS for the MB is beta, plenty of non beta BIOS on the ASUS website.
I always use MSi and have had no issues
I have never had an issue with my ASUS boards and they have actually been the most reliable. I have had an MSI that was ok and did the job and a GIGABYTE board that set itself on fire. So I was a little exited by this news until I read everyone's comments so far. It will be interesting to see what the reviews are like.
they are great up until the point where you have an issue then the walls come tumbling down. They have an obnoxious support rep called Raja who will argue black is white. I had an issue with my Asus Strix 980 video card hitting the Rampage 5 extreme heatsink above the I/O slots, you could not get it in at a 90 degree angle so the card/slot was being strained. He told me my case was the problem. I replied saying I had taken the motherboard out the case and has tried again too get the card in but it still hit the heatsink.
His reply.
"it is the case at fault"
And the best part of it all, he dug his heels in like a 5 year old when I requoted my "it isn't in the case" post.
