Kudos for checking and chasing to get a representative review.Originally Posted by hexus

It's a suggested retail price. Like the i7 6700K that is still being sold way above MSRP. Supply and demand.
Asus, MSI and EVGA amongst others did announce blower style cards I can see ending up around that MSRP. They haven't released them yet because they can ask a lot more money for their super special tri fan, double heatsink cards that sell like hotcakes.
ASUS HQ: Hey let's see if we can charge £100 for some fan headers
It's a bold strategy Cotton...
Still waiting for these prices to fall atleast somewhat closer to the 970/Announced nvidia prices. Never expected the announced $ price to translate directly, but I'm pretty disappointed with the price of the 1070 as a whole.
Hope assuming its just a chip shortage, we'll see the prices drop soon. Unless a lot of people are still buying at this price in which case they get away with it I guess.
Its Madness i tell you Madness!
I'm sure that absolutely any excuse they can possibly dream up is a good enough one for them to not reduce the price...

A quick look at NewEgg shows the cheapest is $455 delivered, which equates to just over £350. OcUK's cheapest option is currently £380, which is closer than normal to US pricing. However, this does demonstrate that the $379 price is wishful thinking!
The price of this reviewed Asus card makes it a non-starter IMHO.
is cool man
I just can't get my head around the insane prices of these cards relative to their performance VS earlier generations.
Why are people not buying 9** and hetting bargains and bundled games for nigh on equivelant performance?
Everyone complains about GPU pricing but ine surefire way to fix that is not to buy the damn cards and especially if you make previous generation cards out-sell "next-gen" maybe we could all force nVidia to uave an "ah ha!" Moment.
Alas, people won't allow this to happen. Still, it did happen with the Gilette mach 3 razor VS the fusion...so there's a ray of hope.
