Have they fixed the coil whine/piezo electric effect chirping? My 9350 has this and it mars things somewhat. Dell claim this is "working as designed". I hope they have updated their design for this model. That and the battery life. They claimed 11 hours for my model. It is nowhere near. That 13 hours battery life they state for QHD will be sitting at idle, screen at min brightness with no auto-refreshing content on the screen.
you can get 16GB - you just have to pay more. And I have to say I don't think I need the 16GB that mine has.
Business specs are on here. consumer specs not up yet.
Holy sh*t, 22 hours?! I highly doubt it'll be 22 hours but it has to be within a few hours of that for them to give that kind of estimate. And that's without some Lenovo-like tumour battery add-on.
I wonder how much this has to do with what's unique to the XPS vs. the new hardware. Will be interesting to see what others can accomplish (particularly on other OS's). Also, OLED still not ready for prime time?
For the 9350 Dell used to sayAnd that's with a 52Whr batteryOriginally Posted by dell
so the increase is due to the 60Whr hour, and does not represent much of an improvement. Marginal kaby lake gains, bigger battery, same over-estimate of actual performance. Most reviews of the 9350 get 9-11 hours for the FHD and about 6 hours for the QHD screen. This is based on light usage.
I think Dell state this claim of 18 hours for what the system might last under minimal loading. You will not see that in reality. I get about 5 huors tops out of mine, I'm still playing with it to see just how little I get. I wonder if i need a new battery. Maybe I can swap in a new 60WHr battery if they're the same size... that would be nice.
Don't worry about the battery as people will install Chrome, iTunes, java, acrobat and a whole load more stuff. You have to ensure that your system is loaded BEFORE complaining about battery life. /s
You CAN get the specified battery life if you duplicate Dell's test otherwise, which is obvious, you won't. Common sense.
"This is what worries me about mine. I'm only getting a few hours and I haven't installed ANYTHING yet."
In the first few hours there will be updates. More updates. Even more updates. Then there will be the indexing service going for gold along with the dotnet libraries working away. You can check the scheduled tasks for random rubbish as well as the 'start-up' within task manager. All the tools are there to ensure you reach mac battery but that requires effort, thought, knowledge etc.
Don't be afraid, if unlocked, to change the control panel's power options. You can create a max battery profile that limits the cpu to 5% for absolute travel battery life etc.
22 hours on a 60Wh battery?
That's an average of 2.7W for 22 hours, that's standby power draw, isn't it?
Cant wait for the XPS 15 variant. GTX 1060 Anyone? XD
Let me get that straight. You pay USD 799 for the version with presumably Windows 10 installed. Yet you pay USD 949 for the version with Ubuntu installed?
