Blows that Cyberpower thing that I didn't win out of the water - are you giving one of these away?

New case and an EVGA PSU and it would be perfect.

Actually, the RM850i is quite a high quality power supply. It makes it into tier 1 of the Tomshardware
    PSU tier list.

I love the fact that this was listed as one of the cons. At the same time, it's obviously a very valid point.

This is the type of amount where depreciation will happen very rapidly.

Yeah good luck with that one, I waited over a month for them to finally send me a replacement graphics card that was still under warranty and that had physically been sending sparks flying when the PC was powered on, they even found the same problems and accepted the card was faulty, still, more than a month before they finally relented and offered me another graphics card from a completely different maker.

Warranties are all well and good on paper and in theory but it's when you go to actually use them you find out they're not worth anything and you gotta fight tooth and nail to get replacements for faulty (even dangerous/fire hazard) hardware.

You better make sure before you lay out as much money on a PC like this that the warranty says, specifically in writing, that it covers all parts and will replace ALL parts with a quick turnaround of a couple of days for the FULL warranty period and NOT sending them off back to China etc., to be repaired, which takes months if they ever even bother at all to send anything back.

From what I've read of the warranty given here with this PC, only the first year matters, the other two years are worthless and will be a complete waste of your time. For the price they're charging, that's just not good enough.

Sorry but am still quite annoyed at the long winded, frustrating and lengthy RMA process I had to go through with Scan just to get a faulty graphics card replaced under warranty, I do not consider them reputable at all any more.

I didn't mean to say the Corsair was bad (although I must admit I've not been impressed with my last RM Corsair supply), but to me the EVGAs are preferable down to my experience of reliability and the 10 year warranty.

    Hello Nacasatu

We're sorry for the problems that you have experienced with your graphics card from Scan, could you please PM or email my colleague Phil, (philip@scan.co.uk) your details so he can look into this for you.

It’s worth pointing out that component warranty’s such as yours and 3XS system warranty’s are different and handled by separate team’s.

Our standard 3-year warranty on every 3XS system is quite comprehensive and includes first year on-site cover then return to base covering parts and labour on top of this we have system engineers on hand until 10pm on week days and 10-6/10-4 on Saturday and Sundays.

I wonder how many of these are actually sold as opposed to just produced for ePeen review purposes.

    Appreciate the reply James.
The problems though were eventually sorted out in July of this year when I received a replacement (and model/brand upgraded) graphics card from Scan.
The faulty graphics card was returned in May of this year.

I was and am very grateful for eventually receiving a replacement graphics card from Scan but it took so long for that to happen.

In the meantime I had actually gone ahead and purchased a Nvidia 1070 gfx card and actually a complete new build with all parts bought from one of your competitors which I won't mention here.
In the time it took to receive a replacement from Scan, I'd bought and built an entirely new PC.
The replacement graphics card sits in the old PC which the missus now uses, so she's happy and the replacement graphics card from Scan was an EVGA so better quality of manufacture one would hope to believe anyway.
The initial and faulty graphics card was a Zotac, which you guys had sent back to China to be replaced/repaired and which after over a month, they still (Zotac) had not done so. In the end Scan decided to give a credit and provided options to choose from as a replacement - That could and should have been done at the start, your RMA guys tested and found the same results as I had (the card was literally sending sparks flying).

One of your competitors, which I pushed on the issue of warranties, offered in writing and public on their site, to replace faulty parts with a turnaround of a few days, not even weeks, never mind months, for the full warranty period (3 years in most cases, some parts 5 years).

They were more expensive than yourselves, they even charged the full Irish VAT rate (which is a few percent more than the UK) but that warranty promise swung it for me and it was worth the extra initial cost even just for that peace of mind.

When something goes wrong with a piece of hardware, whether graphics card, motherboard or whatever, it means a lot that the process required to RMA and receive a replacement is as hassle free and quick as possible, having to wait weeks or months is horrible and having to email for updates and not receiving replies or even being ignored as was the case for weeks, is quite frustrating.

    Once bitten.

Go that extra little mile, do that extra little bit and provide a decent warranty service and it will repay your business.
I know well the industry itself is in hard times what with Brexit and all that but even at that, I still buy from UK predominantly rather than elsewhere in Europe (I'm in Dublin, Ireland) from certain suppliers because I have that peace of mind with them, even if they are more expensive, that if something does go wrong, I can deal with them quickly and effectively in receiving replacements under the full warranty period with little hassle involved.

Scan can still do that and if manufacturers won't provide the necessary to allow that then stop selling their products and state why or at least state upfront that if certain manufacturers hardware is purchased that a long-winded and frustrating process might be involved during the warranty period.
ASUS and Gigabyte for example provide a quick turnaround service for replacements under the full warranty period (a couple of days) for at least one of your competitors, they should do the same for yourselves, whereas the likes of Zotac do not and the hassles involved with them are unreal to say the least.

Sorry for rambling on, appreciate the reply though and I am thankful for having eventually received a replacement graphics card from Scan.

I find it a bit odd that they use flex tubing for such a pricey PC...
