£200 premium for G-Sync.
Total and utter piss take right there, yes G-Sync is hardware based and therefore more expensive, but we are talking £50 more expensive in cost of components and licensing costs.
..not £200.
The G-Sync does use a different panel, but I agree with you that it shouldn't be £200.
Do you have a source for that 50 quid figure? I'm pretty sure across the whole monitor market ups there's always a £150-£200 premium for g sync.Originally Posted by Bagpuss

Its been six months since the GTX1070 launched and AMD has nothing to compete with them,and anybody getting an expensive qHD screen for gaming alone won't be getting a Fiji based card but a GTX1070. Anybody wanting to upgrade from a GTX970 or R9 290/R9 390 series card will most likely look at the GTX1070 too.
This fact alone,will reduce any demand for non-budget FreeSync monitors,no wonder how good they are.
It makes me wonder,whether they really need to look less at fancy technical solutions(HBM2) and actually getting cards out for sale.

As said above, it should be noted that the G-Sync model uses an IPS panel, which justifies a fair chunk of the price difference compared to this one. However, given that the Dell LN71954, for example, is £460, it is still a harsh pill to swallow when paying out for a G-Sync monitor.
The prices of monitor technology make me want to get an AMD gfx card, but they just can't deliver one that is compelling enough!
The new high end ones (aka new Fury replacements) should be released early 2017.Now if only AMD actually released a higher end card at some point!

The price difference is why I believe FreeSync will succeed. I've no doubt that GSync is better, but it's improvements are not worth the extra cost and it being closed source and hardware base increases prices and reduces competition. FreeSync on the other hand is both free and open source, allowing for a competitive market. And being open source, the technology has the potential to be compatible with Intel GPUs (a surprisingly common thing according to Steam) and even Nvidia if they chose to support it or if a hack were to be created. FreeSync could potentially be added to mobile phones, tablets and even TVs for use with consoles. It could become the standard. Simply because it's free!
That will nearly be a year since the GTX1080 was released,a YEAR!
I mean unless Vega is a total knockout,Nvidia can react quite easily especially since they have had enough time to refine GPUs like the GP104 and GP102.

Come on AMD - Nvidia is making truckloads of dosh whilst you don't even have a viable GTX1070 competitor!!

I bought myself one of these monitors a few months ago & I LOVE it, I do not regret my decision one bit & would buy it again in a heartbeat.
At the same time I bought this monitor, I also bought a Vega 64 LC & could not be happier gaming with it. AMD & free-sync or adaptive sync is the way to go, why pay heaps more for nVidia & g-sync when I get liquid game play with this combo for less money; pensioners don't have money to throw away
