Woke up on the wrong side of the bed? I believe most people who care, do so because it means we're closer to release date. Though frankly that means the article should have been about the date given by the Belgian retailer primarily and art secondly. Hopefully it's accurate and there are no more delays.

The two prices for one product, where the prices are €24 apart... sounds very much like the cost of a cooler.

I don't understand the price jumps between products though, as far as I can tell they are all 8C/16T.
Surely there must be something else going on to justify +€130 for 200MHz?

People were speculating the 1800x chips would be the best of the best in silicon lottery and suitable for overclocking, etc. I don't know if we have any solid evidence on why they're much more costly.

Like most , still waiting with baited breath , I'll wait and see whats what after release and sites like overclockers get their mitts on it for bench marking. I hope it pans out and the hype rings true. One for AMD's sake and two to give Intel the kick up the arse they deserve. We the consumers out there need AMD's competition to stop Intel charging ridiculous prices , I'm not a fan boy either way but have favoured AMD for value down the years against Intel as most peeps I have built for are on a budget. Dedicated gamers who have or want to spend higher amounts of cash are another matter , most peeps I know just want simple stuff , Internet , office and a bit of streaming. Horses for courses , killer for me is the Win7 issue , will possibly stop an upgrade to Ryzen.

On a serious note though I wish they would just hurry up and release them now, some real world benchmarks are all I am waiting for at this point!

I don't think we need many benchmarks tbh. Its certainly looking like they are going to be on-par with Intel.

All the info at the moment means that most potential purchasers are only waiting on local pricing of both CPUs and mobos.....and with it being a SoC, the mobo prices may end up being a larger deciding factor.

Part of me is happy I don't need a CPU upgrade and part of me is upset I don't need a CPU upgrade.....

Now, will AMD introduce a nice iGPU/dGPU switching system that beats the crappy Intel-implemented version.....then I could start to justify a CPU upgrade in the HTPC.

Wasn't there talk of the x models being the chips that come with 'Extended Frequency Range' that in-turn allows automatic control of 'Precision Boost'?

I know but weren't people making guesstimates, that sounded reasonable to me personally, that all Ryzen are overclockable but the 'x' models have fully working SenseMI that allows for 'Extended Frequency Range' and 'Precision Boost', i guess either way we'll know for sure in a few weeks.

Yes, the question was why is the 1800x so much more expensive than the 1700x?

Could it be the 4Ghz of the 1800x are the result of a strict binning process, that the 3.8Ghz of the 1700x is the norm?
