Most useless thing ever made and I can't believe the govt is funding this!
And since the trial has a full-time 'driver' present, only 3 passengers really. Not sure what that person does since it has no brakes or steering wheel?! There's only 100 people in the 3-week trial, so it really doesn't need much capacity.
The linked story says, so it sounds like they're planning on using this in pedestrian areas, not on roads."During the trial, five cameras and three lasers will help it navigate a two-mile path near the O2, also used by pedestrians and cyclists"
Since it's developed by Oxbotica, Heathrow Enterprises and Westfield Sportscars, I imagine it might one day replace those electric mobility assistance vehicles at airports and stations.
Baby steps...
