Amazon patents hand tracking wristbands for its workers

However, Amazon hasn’t made any statement about implementing such devices.

Might help alert management that one of the workers has collapsed and needs replacing.

Perhaps workers can close their eyes for a bit of rest, and use the haptic feedback to tell if they are grabbing stuff from the right box.

Well if they can't use robots, they're gonna robotise the workers :-(

'Robot' is a word for'forced worker' in Czech IIRC

Reminds me of workers in Metropolis moving those clock hands/gears.

I suppose it also tracks taking items from the wrong place, in a deliberate stealing sort of way as well as an incompetent sort of way.

That would certainly be one possibility.

Another would be bonuses based on efficient work achieved. And if so, I don't see a problem with that.

Suppose two workers doing identical jobs, Andy and Bob. Over a period, say, month, three months, six months, year, Andy consistently is faster than Bob. Maybe he's fitter, maybe he's brighter, maybe he just concentrates more. Or, maybe Bob is a bit of a slacker and doing the bare minimum. Maybe Bob's a smoker and taking half a dozen 10-minute fag breaks every day.

But whatever the reason, shouldn't hard worker Andy get paid a bonus for working harder? Also, when it comes to promoting someone to supervisor, who'd you want, Andy or Bob? I know who I'd prefer.

Or when they have gone 10 seconds past their 1 minute piss break and will need to be terminated,or if the company will use this system to cut as much pay as they can from their employees, whilst finding creative ways for not paying overtime, etc.

I have seen this sort of crap happen in RL with other people - its just really sad, that these companies keep getting away with robbing their own employees whilst paying their own directors, etc nice bonuses.

I mean look at how SpaceX didn't even pay overtime properly:

    https://www.engadget.com/2017/05/13/...ees-4-million/

Their own employees had to take them to court to get $4 million of unpaid overtime, paid and I suspect they won't actually receive all of what they were owed.

Also,I wonder if the board of directors and senior managers at Amazon also will have this wristband system too, since they want to treat their own employees like slaves.

I guess not, since they can have their extra long lunch breaks,go for a piss or poo whenever they want,"work from home" and get a bonus even if the company were to underperform.just like Fred Goodwin who got a nice bonus for screwing up the company he was supposed to run,and we paid for it.

This is like a return to the Victorian era but with more tech.

I have. But I am trying to highlight some of the stupid things these companies pull up people on,or force people to do. Its just a vicious circle of exploitation while the board of directors, etc take liberties by robbing their employees.
