I can't see Nintendo being too happy about it looking like a Game Boy, so I'd wonder if that would stop it in its tracks.
Whether it would or not however, I can't see the appeal of playing on such a tiny screen.
Love the concept and would be very interested in something like this if the price is right.
But as is, it's just WAY too small to be of any use, both screen-wise and button-wise. I just mocked up the footprint and I don't think my thumbs will even fit!
Even if it was credit-card sized, it might work... but not this. It even looks like the demonstrator has to rest it on the desktop because it's too small to use in the hand. At least some of the ROMs I'd want to use would need fast, accurate control inputs from a stable grip/platform.
Too small, will get very annoying very quickly.

That looks like it could fit a much larger screen without affecting the overall size
Pocket, Splite?
Quite like the look of this, yes very much novelty but if you start making much bigger devices you then doing into phone size territory which is then against emulators etc.
The fact it can just attach to my car keys for a bit of gaming is great.
Yes very much a novelty/toy and I do think that the screen could be a bit bigger without impacting the overall size.
The overall size wouldn't annoy me too much, that's roughly the same as my Sansa Clip, I could easily see myself playing games on the bus or train with it, however that d-pad looks too small.
And yes I can see nintendo coming down hard on them for the design, why copy the gameboy design? the only reason I can think of is retro brand recognition and of course it's simplier and cheaper to quickly knock off the gameboy design than to actually think and try to design a more functional layout for an ultra portable
One worrying feature is WiFi, the only connection you should need is to put roms on it, usb cable is hardly a struggle for that
But wifi is always a massive drain on batteries, the bluetooth I can see for headphones and similar.
Edit: make it 50% longer/taller, then flip it on it's side, slightly larger screen (maybe*) then put a larger d-pad on the left and your buttons on the right.
There you go a nicer layout, still pretty small but more space for larger cleaner controls and probably a bigger battery.
*I say maybe because that says a 25x22mm screen, but also 32mm wide body, in the pictures the screen is only about half the width of the body which would put it at 16mm which is too small (the sansa clip screen is 22x15mm)
Edit2: Just spotted something else, Original gameboy resolution = 160 x 144 Pixels, but they haveso there's all sorts of nasty scaling going on.vivid full colour OLED 80 x 64 pixel display running at 60fps+

This really reminds me of a Dreamcast VMU, particularly one that's been hacked with a Pi Zero: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNoBQ5nTeuk
