So if this happens (and I doubt it will in all honesty) the moon will have 4G before where I live will....
Checks date - seems one month early.

Now that's going to be a roaming charge
Bragging rights:
Audi becomes the first private vehicle on the surface of another "world" (second in space, Tesla beat them to it), Vodafone becomes the first extraplanetary ISP, and Nokia provides the communications hardware for these achievements (an achievement itself).
This is about bragging rights, and this shows space travel is getting cheaper every year, 10 years ago the costs would eclipse the brag rights benefits.
Now, what's next? It's time for "1st in space" awards. I'm looking forward for the zero gravity Olympic Games, that should be a laugh.
Oh, and one more thing: This is probably the stupidest thing I'll read all day, but stupid in an awesome way

Bet those Audi's will tailgate each other and never indicate...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
My mind has already gone into the gutter with that... then down the gulley, through the whole sewer network, around the treatment plant stages 1 and 2, straight through the digester tank and is currently sat on one of the stinking sludge drying beds, coming up with more filth-in-space!!!
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing...
Vodafone seem to have the widest coverage anyway, although not always the strongest.

nice to think that all those Voda contracts are paying for such useful resource use and in such an environmentally good way.
When your mobile contract comes up next time, have a ponder........

It is jus a telemetry system that uses GSM technology to support the vehicles. (Not consumer focussed - just think of the latency! )

Not quite true... 4g technology is more efficient in many ways than other forms of communication. They have said it will be used for telemetry AND beaming HD pictures from the rovers back to the base station and then used for live feeds

Sooner have seen Vodafone maybe drop peoples a bills a bit or even who knows given this xx millions to charity rather than basically peeing on the moon like some small terrier.

Surely the base station must look like this
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
