Nothing crazy, about 300quid on my i7 cpu
Think it has to be EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Gaming ACX 3.0
Don't think I could warrant spending any more on a single component than a gaming gpu, and that take the pish as it is!
£575 on a GPU.
5 years later it's still good enough and equivalent to an RX480.
£148 on a sapphire x800 GTO2.
Wrecked it 3 weeks later when i slipped with a screwdriver whilst installing an arctic cooler
£1200 on a Pascal Titan X
£729 on a EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 which came with a Destiny 2 code.
The most extravagant component purchase I've done must've been the Creative Labs Soundblaster AWE32. That set me back in excess on DKr 2300 back in 1994 (worth more back then due to lower inflation). On a student's budget, mind you. At the time I had a Soundblaster 16, but I just knew I had to have the AWE32. Good soundcard, but way overpriced. I have bought other components (*cough*GPUs*cough*) at slightly higher prices but those purchases don't seem so outrageous given the going rate for said components.

£680 on a Palit 1080Ti last year. But most of it was funded by selling my previous card (1070).
Around 2004, I also splashed £400 on a GeForce FX5900 Ultra. According to a UK inflation calculator, that equates to about £600 now.
But there's still no way I could bring myself to spend the sort of cash that a Titan or i9 would cost.
Needed.
£230.00 on a GTX 1060 6GB.
Splurge
£150 on a Razer Blackwidow Chroma.
Technically.
£160 on a pair of Apple Airpods, which I use when I'm not wearing the Razer Kraken 7.1's, although i use them primarily with the 8 plus
I had one of those. I only recently binned it as I just couldn't bear to part with such a massively overengineered bit of kit I kept it just to admire it. The sheer size of it was amazing for the time. Now have an X-Fi Elite Pro but I have some problems with it so might have to swap it when some money comes in. I wanted the Azuntech X-Fi but I got an offer for an Elite Pro I couldn't refuse.
£250 on my MSI RX 580 8GB card
£900 on my GTX 690, yeah it was a fortune, but it's lasted until now
I think it was around £270 for my AMD 7950 back in the day.
