Well they just lost 3 from our family as we all canceled due to AGENDA tv. Tired of SJW crap. I want to be entertained, not preached to all day. Might as well call it LGBTflix. If it's not that they keep changing history (or comics in the case of all the DC stuff, man lawyer turns lesbian across all their shows), as is the case with Lost in Space with "updated gender roles"...They added the token black kid (not in original show family) and the mom (all women in it) can't be like the old family. How many times will we alter old shows to fit some new narrative? Xena will be coming back lesbian soon too (ugh). TV can't stop changing comics. I'm done with that crap too (supergirl, arrow etc. Whole family keeps dumping this SJW crap). Please stop changing TV (old shows remade LGBT etc), games (baldurs), comic books (ugh) and concentrate on making that stuff in NEW shows. Why they have to create tons of hate by altering classics is beyond me. In a few years I will have ZERO tolerance if they keep this up and I had ZERO problem with them a few years ago. I had a gay boss who was probably the best boss I had so far. He didn't shove it down my throat daily - more like a Dave Rubin (who I love watching too! Great Interviewer). The worst part is, the SJW crowd is the LEAST tolerant group on the planet (incoming SJW mod in 3...2...1...LOL). It's relevant to the topic (why we just cancelled instead of staying in is relevant right?)...Pfft.

You're doing what you can, if Netflix (or anyone else,) don't offer up content you enjoy then vote with your feet. Not sure the pre-emptive vitriol is required though, could make it seem like it's not Netflix creating the tons of hate.
If a remake doesn't suit your tastes, why not just watch the old ones?
I thought the whole point of a remake was that it was different, and more up-to-date.

HEXUS is happy for any point of view provided it falls into the category of civilised debate - ie discuss the ideas but avoid personal attacks on other members (and swearing). Netflix atleast gives you a choice whether you subscribe or not, not like the TV licence which forces everyone to give money to the BBC for their endless SJW stuff!

It didn't fall off, it merely became insufficient at it's purpose and got a bit droopy...
That's a big plus with the streaming services' subscriptions, they tend not to tie you in for long. Apart from inertia there is nothing that stops you swapping to wherever the interesting content backlog currently is.
I think the growth shows that Netflix is supplying what it's customers want, and a number of competing streaming services does seem like the best model. I'm still exhausting free options and thinking about BFI subscription after that. It's all so much better than tv, you get to see in advance what's on offer and a trial period.
As a social/cultural aspect I find the invasion of politics into entertainment as a reason to turn off, is interesting. I'm not sure before the BBC got accused of being either Right or Left wing, or before the recent clumsy efforts at identity politics in some films and shows(apparently on Netflix, I don't know); that this was ever an issue. I think Rachel Weisz made the best comment lately about new parts being written for women, (or people from ethnic backgrounds, or gay and trans sexual people), rather just retro actively replacing male characters. I see the re writing of roles based on identity politics to be just lazy fashionable marketing. Also if you're a big fan of the show, you may be against those obsessed with forcing identity politics, forcing an unnecessary change to your show or characters. It's a modern cultural dilemma.
So what's new?

Yes but you are aware of what nobodyspecial is referring to. It's actually an interesting issue. Thinking back I think there have been many strong female roles, gay characters and tran sexual characters in films and tv(Alien, My Beautiful Launderette, The Crying Game, Queer as Folk), without having to retro actively fundamentally change existing characters. I think a lot of the anti-'patriarchy' and 'return of the repressed' politics is naive(I read hard left politics and some feminist tomes as part of my degree). You can't re write culture or history to suit an idealistic ideology. I laugh at their attempts at identity politics.
Interestingly gaming offers a chance to play as a character; an Eastern European immigrant to USA in GTA 4, a young black hacker in WD2 or even a female character in Skyrim. Does that put some people off these games, like it seems to certain tv networks or services?
