I quite liked the Moto G5 but software updates take agessss.

My G5+ is still on Android 7 and security updates do take their time to roll out.

Hopefully Motorola would roll out updates faster for the G6 but I'm not holding my breath...

This. I have a standard G5. When this expires in 2-3 years I'll go for something on the Android One program that will get timely updates.

Used to really like the moto phones but they've lost their edge. Updates are getting really slow and slowly moving away from vanilla Android. Lack of Mirrorlink too. Won't be replacing my wife's G5+ or my Z with new moto phones. Just wish it wasn't so hard to buy a decent priced (<£300) vanilla android anymore...

They were much quicker before being taken over by Lenovo. I had the Moto X Style, it received the first few updates super quick. Ended up wondering if I'd ever get 7.0. It did in the end, but by that point I'd gone back to my OnePlus One with a 7.1 custom ROM.

Still rocking the original Moto G. All the phones just seem to be getting larger and larger, my eyesight is fine but my fingers aren't getting any longer!

The G6Plus is a SD600. But like the 2nd post, I was a big fan of the Motos, having an X2 and an X Force, but waiting for updates was really tedious, and they seem to give them to random countries first, then take ages to get them out to the rest of the world. It's a shame, I really like what little bloatware they put on (usually around gestures, and hands free) but I wouldn't get another one now.

What is it with the constant need with phone companies to stick glass on BOTH sides of a smartphone....

Common sense says that glass is not a good choice for a material on something that may get knocked against stuff in your pocket or even dropped...

This kind of feels like a downgrade from the all metal g5s or even just a rebadged x4 and that motorola logo on the front is just...seriously, we know who made our phone.

Have to say at this price point the nokia 6 seems like a better buy imo if you don't need the extended screen

Its nearly £300 seems - looks like the Moto G line is now more midrange than budget.

Of course there are... but I can't see any point in using them! Glass is used because it's fairly tough, allows wireless charging. It sandwiches the phone nicely around the charging plate. Yes it's a design choice but what material would you use?
