I'm expecting a co-op base management game where you play the actual characters in a Fallout Shelter+State of decay type.
I was hoping they would go for a new series, call it fallout Classic, isometric games with Obsidian at the helm given their success recently.
Vault 76 was mentioned in Fallout 4 and Fallout 3:

Also as the game apparently had the name Starfield I wonder if this means, something to do with space??
I could see a MMORPG working, where every player has a room in the vault and goes out on quests into the wasteland (kind of like the division). Make it free to play and toss stuff like bigger rooms behind loot crates, they'll be rolling in it
Its apparently an online survival RPG:

A bit like ARK:Survival Evolved then??
Edit!!
GAME have it on pre-order already:

I don't lile the way bethesda are terminating a second ip with an online offering. Elder Scrolls is basically just the MMORPG now and we probably won't see another standalone single player offering for a long time. I'm worried Fallout will go the same route.
I'm sure it may be fantastic but I just want a new single player from somebody, I thought after the Save Player 1 campaign it would be Bethesda - hopefully it still may be but it sounds like FO76 won't be it.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.
I really hope they don't try and turn it into an MMO or focus on base buulding....or if they do, lets hope its just a spin off like Shelter was and they are still working on Fallout 5 in the background. That would be fine as I can see the appeal for some of a multiplayer fallout game, but for me it just doesnt sound all that exciting. The base building in FO4 was the worst part of the game IMO and something I pretty much ignored throughout - I am much more interested in the story and exploration aspects.
Guess we'll see at E3
to show off the multiplayer and have a bit of pvp, I'm starting to wonder if there's a big dome like structure, that's maybe used as a fighting pit type of entertainment. with a suitably grandiose name, maybe THUNDERDOME.
or theres a fight arena person next to an entrance to a walled off area of wasteland that people talk to if they want o partake in pvp, could be a 8x8km area, possibly get 100 people in this online world to enter and have a big battle, a battle royale as it were.
but thinking about it, I don't think anyone would play that sort of game, doesn't sound very fun tbh.

So,all mods are paid for in the new game.
That's a damn shame. If that's true, count me out – Bethesda are going to alienate a huge chunk of their fan base by going down that route.
I wonder how strictly it's going to be enforced. Are they just dropping Creation Kit support or are they going to check local files like Rockstar?
The modding community has been the saving grace of recent Bethesda games. I've happily put hundreds of hours into FO3, Skyrim, New Vegas and FO4 but only because of the modding community. If I'm going to have to pay for a handful a mods developed within a walled garden just to fix shallow, broken systems then I won't bother playing the game in the first place.
I love the modding community in Bethesda games, it has allowed me to get many more much less frustrating hours out of Skyrim and the Fallout games even helped a little in Oblivion too.
Buying mods is a killer for me, i do not have a lot disposable income like i used to (Fiancee and kids, but i wouldn't change that for the world) but lets see how this pans out first.

The game is a prequel, set in West Virginia and is 4 times the size of Fallout 4.
Well if it's online multiplayer only I can see why they would be keen on clamping down on mods, esp if you cannot make your own sever for it.
I don't dislike the settlement building in fo4 but it was very barebones and it wasn't well implemented into the plot, having a story based around building settlement could work really well.
