and that entire presentation is made with depth of knowledge, love of the product and brand, and certainty.

Isn't that airflow acceleration more due to viscosity than pressure? The pumpjet approach to moving air is nice, I'd like to see that used more on fans

Isn't the viscosity of air a fixed number? (what's viscosity measured in anyhow).

A quick Google said viscosity changes in relation to temperature, TIL.

No, when you force a fluid through a constricted nozzle, the fluid is compressed, heats up, and accelerates as a result of the pressure gradient between the nozzle and the outtake area, the greater the pressure gradient, the more energetically the gas has to expand out into the lower pressure region. As it escapes and depressurises it cools off again, slightly cooler than when it was intaken, since energy is expended in accelerating the fluid.

Rocket nozzles use the same principle to increase the efficiency of thrust from their reaction mass (exhaust gases).

Re: Noctua teases next-generation NH-U12 CPU cooler

My bad, meant to type amplification. The guy on the video made it sound like he thought the lower pressure at the exit was sucking in extra air (from ambient) to give more air directed where you want it @3:56, when (as I see it) the only way you'll get extra air moved is the viscous drag the high speed air exerts on the surrounding fluid. Without getting past ~0.3 mach the density at exit will be pretty identical to the ambient density, so there's no room for ambient air to drop down the pressure gradient and accelerate to match the fast moving air.

Whatever happened to Noctua's Active Noise Cancellation heatsink?
