We're still waiting for the fruits of that multi-billion 6 year labour. Progress indeed!
I guess we'll know for sure in a few days as Intel have an investor report / call coming up and (afaik) misleading investors is frowned upon (illegal?).
Intel's 10nm is starting to sound like the Daikatana/Duke Nukem Forever of the foundry world.
Next we'll be hearing that Half Life 3 is making good progress, but not *quite* ready yet.
Half dev, Half doge. Some say DevDoge

If something is/was broke it was probably me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If Intel bin it after making those sort of statements they'll be in hot water. If their press release is genuine, then one wonders why the other chap was so confident. Were the guy's moles genuine, victims of deliberate misinformation within intel to route out the moles, or just BS feeders wanting a bit of attention?
Of course if intel are playing the misinformation game while they try and work out how to spin it, that could backfire. "Sooo... when we said 10nm was alive and well and left our factory we actually meant we'd cut the tracks and severed the logic core from most of the substrate, before immersing it in a bucket of acid. But that was just some rogue technicians, and the people at the top had nothing to do with it. Besties like before, right?"

"We’re making good progress on 10nm – consistent with what we shared at earnings. As soon as we can give you more details, we will." Official response to if it's the same 10nm as said at TMG Day last year / same 10nm as CNL.
Imagine how insanely expensive they will be as well.
"News of my death has been greatly exaggerated", although a misquote it still seems appropriate. The best chance of 10nm salvation that Intel has is to either: 1) relax some of the dimensions to be not so bleeding edge (2.7x greater density was overreach); or 2) start upgrading fabs with equipment that supports 7nm/5nm (EUV) and use it to make good 10nm before going all out for 7nm.
These negative headlines could be illegal stock price manipulations.
..INTEL should 'simply' ask for help just like Global Foundries

You guys missed Charly's response:
" SemiAccurate stands by its reporting."
https://semiaccurate.com/2018/10/22/intel-kills-off-the-10nm-process/
But of course Intel has never lied before and will never lie, so we can trust their answer. They only need to keep 5 engineers on the project to make what they say sort of true. They can also decide to only do mobile on 10nm. They are like politicians. Intel cannot afford the bad news right before their Earnings Report (tomorrow).
Maybe they might come out next year and announce that they have decided to skip to 7nm, in 2022 of course.
All i care about is Ice Lake, I want that new architecture.
