Whether he's accurate or not with his assessment, nothing says "we're screwed" like a major tech CEO bad-mouthing the competition to the global press.
It's like he's been taking lesson from Donald Trump, or something....

Despite my current hardware choices I do want AMD to do well and bring the competition (I used to always have AMD builds back in the day) however he isn't wrong is he, I mean HBM2 and a die shrink on paper should be far more powerful or efficient (or both) than this card actually is. The content creation argument doesn't play out too well in reality either as a lot of processes rely on CUDA cores, we just have to hope they don't mess up with navi or they are in trouble.
These comparisons don't even bring DLSS into the mix either where the 2080 is more than likely going to pull ahead by quite a stretch in BFV with that turned on.
Poor form for coming out with that but I can agree, obviously we need to see third-party benchmarks but a 7nm card that uses a ton more power and needs that much cooling can only keep up with a 2080 is poor, I can't see a reason for buying it, the 2080 is a better buy and now supports Freesync.

This was such a childish response to AMDs keynote. Not becoming of a company in Nvidias position.
Whether or not anything he says is correct is tainted by his poor attitude against the competition.
Radeon 7 was underwhelming but to do what he is doing and to literally drag down all the competitions tech with his terminology. Something bad must be happening to nvidia if that were the case.
Slanderous words mean nothing from a man who's stocks have dropped over 50 percent in 3 months. But for all it's worth as others have said, he's not all that wrong. I still have no doubt though that AMD will make Vega 7 a more desirable card over the next few months
Jensen, as always, doesn't had that "finesse" that CEOs should have.Also, if you have much better product, you do not feel need to go bashing your competition. I read this as he feels insecure.
And for everybody else, I think we are in for nice surprise from Radeon VII.
Remember,this card has higher clock, has double speed VRAM and double size of the same. Had double ROPs.
The reason that it costs 699USD is because nvidia cards are overpriced and it seems people are still buying them. AMD must think, so why not. They can always go lower.
Actually when you think, the prices are high because people are buying them. If the sales were bad, all this cards would have much lower prices. But, hey, so many have the urge to buy that new flashy hardware. Blame the high prices on them.

You know, I'm no defender of AMD for some pretty poor graphics execution in recent years. They've been pretty lacklustre putting it mildly. However I'm also no defender of Nvidia for pulling out all of the marketing blurb for an underwhelming 20xx series launch with no real improvements and relying heavily on features that simply can't be used in every game to sell it, at an exorbitant price for this generation to boot.
Neither Nvidia or AMD is looking good from these launches.
I want AMD.
Just give me something to buy!
It certainly does come across as NVIDIA being taken off guard and feeling threatened by its release.
They're pretty bold words for someone who hasn't even got their hands on a product.
Also it's not the FreeSync monitors that's the problem Mr Huang, it's that you're either not reading the EDID correctly or not setting the range correctly in your drivers.
Nvidia's current implementation of ray-tracing hardware is a joke. Their CEO should be careful with claims like these, because it will haunt him in the future.
So he's managed to pretty much double the exposure of the Radeon VII on various tech websites. Also, while the initial reaction was a fairly universal 'meh' if there's one thing guaranteed to make potential customers take another look at a product it's a rival company going out of their way to rubbish it.

His comments are inept at best. However he sits pretty still yet again with an AMD release sitting below his flagship product. It's been ever thus for too many releases now. Many generations won't remember AMD kicking intel's @ss with the first Athlons and anyone 30 or under won't remember any times (in recent memory) where team red GPU's have competed with team green at the top end.
Ryzen is genuinely a breath of fresh air and something for many to celebrate. GPU wise however another generation mirroring nvidia's second best GPU on release is simply not good enough and simply detracts from the brand and looks like a lack of innovation.
It's less than a decade since the 5870 was released, and it had over 6 months as the undisputed fastest GPU in world before NVidia finally got he buggy, hot running, power hungry GTX 480 out of the door. I'd hope people who were twenty back then haven't forgotten already...
