    Battery Life.

Spend a lot of time in the great outdoors camping & hiking so it's more important to me than all the other stuff.

It's why I bought a Moto G6 Play last year with the 4000mAh battery, over the more feature rich G6 Plus.

Combined with a 6000mAh battery pack, I have enough juice to last nearly a week without recharging at the mains.

Number 1 these days is not having a notch/punch hole/hole in the screen.

Second being that it's running a flavour of Android...then following that, the specifications.

Ditto this - my next phone will have to have a wide or super-wide angle lens and better low light performance.

In fact, what if someone built a mobile phone into a DSLR - that would certainly have bragging rights to best camera!

Price. Don't want to how cool the hardware is if it's not in my budget

Availability of software updates, official or off XDA Devs, is my first criteria and battery life is the second when it comes to choosing a new device.

With most ~ £250 smartphones being awesome and select < £100 ones being perfectly acceptable for daily use I do not miss owning one of those > £700 unicorns. The one thing that ticks me off is manufacturers not updating Android with security patches.

Compact size with great hardware. Like the s10e, which has flagship hardware with manageable dimensions.

Re: QOTW: Which feature matters most when buying a mobile phone?

Not really a feature, but pricing plays an important part alongside the ecosystem of applications as well as how secure I feel imparting details into the phone without that being completely abused at some stage. If only there was a serious Linux type of phone with much more granular control and decent hardware....

Re: QOTW: Which feature matters most when buying a mobile phone?

Being less than £200 with no notch.

Past that being able to make phone calls is rather important to me (a feature many don't use these days).

Re: QOTW: Which feature matters most when buying a mobile phone?

I may be in the market now, and am trying to work this out. Previously I've not spent more than circa £120 on a phone but they seem to have a life of 12-18 months before either physically dying or slowing to a crawl. . My last few phones have been Moto G5, Wileyfox Swift, Lumia 835 (yes I liked Windows phones, sue me).

This time I'm thinking of spending a bit more (up to around £250) to see if it'll last a bit longer.

While I'd like a. USB c connector as they seem more robust than micro USB which has failed on me before beyond that I'm not fussed about notches, External storage (as long as it has at least 32gb internal,) cameras as long as they're not horrific, nfc (won't use it anyway,) or 3.5mm jack. I'd like regular security updates so android one is a bonus but I'm not afraid to slap lineage on it.

Any recommendations? Most grunt for the money seems to be an Honor Play but I'm open to suggestions.
