I for one applaud the governments new initiative to promote privacy awareness and VPNs to teenagers.

But it's already the 17th....!!
Dunno why they bother. It's not like blocking the UK populace will impact the sites' profit margins enough for any of them to give a toss...!

Just sounds like another money-making scheme, really... none of which will be going into making people more responsible parents in the first place!
I'm sure a higher percentage of us first stumbled upon our Dad's magazines, or found one left in the woods... It didn't stop it back then!Originally Posted by BBFC Website

I foresee a big increase in the use of VPNs coming up soon. No kid with a half a brain and the desire to look at porn, is going to be stopped.
If they want to verify age just make the log in an old fashioned circular dial phone and the questions on hymns in school assemblies. Da yoof won't have a clue given that neither exist anymore right?
Ah, porn is different, though, y'see.
Ever since the late 60s, resulting in "No Sex Please, We're British". It's a unique quirk of this little island.

So with those kids, there are accidents, and then there are (insert air-quotemarks here) ...."accidents", right? Like they accidently typed 'free porn sites' into thrir favourite search engine, then accidentally clicked a dozen links.

1 step closer to complete control of what you see the age of the open internet is coming to an end
If the government are so obsessed with protecting the children from something they shouldn't have access to why don't they just set up a child friendly UK intranet and leave the internet to the adults as it's *meant to be.
If adults bought booze and kids kept drinking it we wouldn't ask you to provide age verification before you could open a bottle or can so why are we doing that with the internet, when did the internet become a child friendly zone?
*As in only adults (afaik) can subscribe to an ISP.
Oh and another thing, by introducing pornography age checks aren't they admitting that the mandatory network-level Internet filtering program that was championed by Claire Perry and the Daily Mail 5 years ago is a total flop and if so what makes them think this will be any different? If parents can already filter pornography at the ISP level why the need for age verification?

Does anybody actually not have a VPN at this point?
