I remember a friend once tdlling me he managed to drop a hammer while he was up a ladder and it broke his kitchen window ..... which by a strange coincidence had a defective double-glazing seal and needed replacing anyway. It took six accidents before that damn pane broke. You wouldn't believe how that dratted hammer just bounced off.

So with those kids, there are accidents, and then there are (insert air-quotemarks here) ...."accidents", right? Like they accidently typed 'free porn sites' into thrir favourite search engine, then accidentally clicked a dozen links.

If the government are so obsessed with protecting the children from something they shouldn't have access to why don't they just set up a child friendly UK intranet and leave the internet to the adults as it's *meant to be.

If adults bought booze and kids kept drinking it we wouldn't ask you to provide age verification before you could open a bottle or can so why are we doing that with the internet, when did the internet become a child friendly zone?

*As in only adults (afaik) can subscribe to an ISP.

Oh and another thing, by introducing pornography age checks aren't they admitting that the mandatory network-level Internet filtering program that was championed by Claire Perry and the Daily Mail 5 years ago is a total flop and if so what makes them think this will be any different? If parents can already filter pornography at the ISP level why the need for age verification?
