Interesting that they're saying it's an all new GPU architecture for Navi, i thought rumors were pointing to it being another revisions of GCN.

Q3 starts in July so basically any time between July and September, nice.

AMD did say that Navi is GCN based, but that doesn't mean it won't undergo massive changes under the hood to improve on gaming relevant hw and reduce compute for example.

Re: AMD confirms 3rd gen Ryzen, 2nd gen Epyc, and Navi for Q3

"As the Radeon VII and Navi GPUs are listed together for Q3, it is highly likely that Navi will not compete in the upper-high-end segment....

The amp'd datacentre (not gaming) radeon VII remains top of the line up. Well A: Abysmal M:Multiple Disappointment have done it again. I want to give you my money and haven't been able to for the last 2 years. Yes I wanna upgrade, and yes I want 3rd Gen Ryzen (massive tick) but for the love of ...... Can you please make a graphics card that's worthy of the innovation and success Ryzen CPU's have shown. I've held off for eternity waiting for Navi this news if true is runny and brown with added sweetcorn on top.

yawn... more cores... blah blah blah. and its about time they got competitive with their video cards. I got burned twice by amd's hype, so I am obviously not a fan, anymore.

My bro is in the market for an upgrade soon, I've been telling him for months to wait and see what AMD are going to later in the year as Navi is meant to be big... well... looks like he will either be going RTX or keeping hold of my old 1070 a bit longer at this rate...

I'm trying my best to tell him how good 3rd gen Ryzen looks but he seems hell bent on getting an I7 just because I have one!

Tell him Intel's processor shortage is supposed to be coming to an end which should bring prices down a lot. Though I suspect you are right and Ryzen should fix the gaming performance shortfall.

I didn't see much hype over Navi tbh, my expectations were fairly low, ryzen on the other hand has been getting a lot of hype!

IIRC there were rumours that navi would be glued together dies like zen2/threadripper/epyc, that would have been noteworthy - but that would lend itself well to targeting the high end, and so far we're not seeing that (as V7 is mentioned in the slide)

I'll wait until December when prices stabilise and bugs are ironed out.
