Interesting times ahead for both AMD & NVidia... Who will win the race performance VS value for money.
I wish people would stop quoting the FF XV benchmark for Nvidia vs AMD results. For starters the benchmark isn't particularly well optimised compared to the game itself, so it's not an accurate depiction of the expected performance for that game. Secondly, as has already been stated, FF XV heavily favours Nvidia hardware over AMD hardware.
I think this is great news....for AMD.
R5700XT is 12% than Radeon VII. And Radeon VII is fighting with RTX 2080 !
Is this the reason nVidia went for "Super" versions?
And what about R58xx and R59xx series?
This is going to be very, very interesting. I feel AMD didn't told the whole story...
The more you live, less you die. More you play, more you die. Isn't it great.
I bet it will be a 'super' price as well
@Hexus Did you already got the cards?

As said above isn't FF XV heavily nvidia biased in it's performance optimisations, at least on the demo version.
Having said that I will likely end up buying another nvidia gpu, cuda is still far better option than open cl for gpu encoding/rendering etc sadly.
Looks like the part of the rendering pipeline that was beefed up is heavily used by FFXV, I'd be surprised if the V7 is beaten so much across the board (given it's meant to still be part of the lineup)
The first rule of getting the Nvidia cards will be that you can't talk about even having the nvidia cards Not until NDA day anyway.
Is it just me that thinks this is really odd timing? AMD bring out new CPUs and GPUs on the 7th, people are still going to be talking about those CPUs on the 9th when Nvidia's new cards turn up so I just don't see them getting the sort of time that usually goes into a review. That only makes sense if Nvidia are trying to bury the release, like burying bad news. It does give Nvidia an excuse to change their pricing structure though.
That's easy, PERF wins, value doesn't for NET INCOME. Low end does not make AMD money (not much), but the higher end stuff seems to be priced right this time at least for cpu's/server. Yeah, If you're winning everything, CHARGE MORE or you should be FIRED. PERIOD, with no severance package either. You wouldn't be borrowing money from China to stay afloat if you charged HIGHER pricing. It would be different if you were AMD of 5yrs ago, yeah, those were worth next to nothing (whole line of apu/cpu's under $150 on amazon then, terrible ASP's, NET LOSS after loss). But today, it seems a victory across the board is coming (or close to a sweep IMHO), time to charge like you're in the DOMINANT position AMD! If pricing doesn't stick for review day, I'll bail on the stock until servers hit with benchmarks. Not interested in owning a stock that isn't trying to make money when easily had (that is dumb management...I'd rather own NVDA/MU etc, well, MU in a Q, one more bad MU Q I think then back up to 60-100).
People pay MORE for Intel/NV daily (because of PERF, watts/heat usually), but now AMD can do the same winning everything. At worst you should match Intel pricing, but if you're smoking them on the 7th, PRICE ABOVE! Not ridiculous, but ABOVE. You NEED NET INCOME, or this whole recovery in the last 5yrs was pointless and over in 18mo. If you charge CORRECTLY, you could radically change the landscape of cpus here easily with no 20% limit on production in Dresden etc like last time you were in the drivers seat. Now TSMC, Samsung, and maybe GF can all produce if needed, and in 18mo this could be a totally different story (50/50 maybe for desktop or more to amd, and 30/70 server amd/intel or better). Once the 128 cores hit ($17000 style chips), NET INCOME should rise massively again and Intel stock will tank if they start losing $5000-17000 chips to AMD. Those are the cash cows at Intel! Attack with a BETTER cash cow (AMD seems to have them now), and you, well, take their dang R&D to sad Intel levels and stock ppl flee with causes yet more damage
