That "search gifs" feature made me die a little inside when I read/saw it. I think Danny Glover said it best - I'm too old for this []!
looks like an improvement to me. Anything to stop my laptop fans spinning up due to the amount of moving icons and graphics rich content on the current menu.
I thought Microsoft did that from Windows 8 onwards?

I don't think it looks that bad

Outlook since the update look rubbish. Didn't see the monstrosity from the article thankfully.
It reminds me of Amiga Workbench, so I wouldn't call it ugly personally. A 90's retro feel to it.

I don't like it. Windows 10 is good as it is for me right now
Looks fine as long as you can change the background colour ?
Can't be worse than the new Twitter screen via browser...
I like the potential of Tiles, but I feel that they just fall way short of what they really could be.
I would like a lot more control over the icons and colours myself, rather than each one having its own choices there.
If I could theme icons, and background colours to what I want, it would in my opinion instantly look better.
Any icon that isn't from the same source, and it is immediately visible just how different it looks.
This new start menu while certainly attractive from the view of bigger performance savings, and for less tech savvy, it even then looks horribly inconsistent due to the different icon styles.
Experimental start menu looks awful, yes, but the gif search tool IS a killer feature and if you don't think so, you need to seriously rethink your priorities
