I've sorted out a load of diy related to tech things. Moved surround system around a bit and hooked up all the devices to it properly

I wish I had the time.
WFH while around family all demanding my attention as well, I have even less time than usual!

Saying that, it'd be nice to strip down my blocks and retube. Just need to remember which brand of tubing was the best non-plasticiser...

Re: QOTW: What tech projects are you undertaking during lockdown?

I rebuilt one of my 3D printers incorporating some upgrades and then used it to print a few bits and bobs I designed. First a new part for the garden gate catch where a metal bit had rusted and fallen off so now replaced with a petg part (the bit that restricts the movement of the latch so the gate closes properly and the handle doesn't just spin round and round) and a thing for the bathroom cupboard for the wife to stand her makeup and brushes in so they don't all roll out every single effin time I open the cupboard door and scatter all over the floor.

I also upgraded my PC so it can better play Half Life Alyx. I think I'm done on projects now, and will stick to computer games

Re: QOTW: What tech projects are you undertaking during lockdown?

I've treated myself to a second hand Oculus Rift for £220 from eBay exclusively for Beat Saber! I detest exercise but gaming with exercise I can get behind. I've been a fan of DDR and PIU but buying one of those cabinets is unrealistic as they cost a lot, are insanely heavy, can be very loud plus I have no room for one.

I would have fancied either the HTC Vive more as I'm told it's the better VR headset, or would have prefered the Oculus Quest due to the wireless nature of it with the ability to hook it up to your PC. Unfortunately the HTC Vive is still ridiculously expensive even second hand, whilst the Oculus Quest seems to be out of stock from all reputable e-tailers!

The seller was nice enough to post it for Parcelforce express24 delivery on Wednesday but as of this moment it is still nowhere to be seen as it is stuck in the National Hub in Coventry. Oh well, I can't complain, there are certainly more important deliveries going around the country I'm sure so I'll happily wait in line if it means everyone else can get their necessities.

My daughter is trying to stick to her usual school schedule while stuck at home. She uses Beat Saber for PE lessons

It is an awesome game though, my favourite level is K/DA Pop/stars which I can now get through on Expert level. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOxkGD8qRB4)

One project I should do is modify the lighting where the Rift is as I keep hitting the lampshade.

Assuming you have Steam, do install "The Lab". It is free, and has some decent stuff in it I still go back to. https://store.steampowered.com/app/450390/The_Lab/

Nice, the next challenge will be to find a subject whilst isolating! hopefully you have some nice rural walks nearby or something. I've always been on the lookout for a colour accurate monitor for photography but since i game too i'd really like one with a high refresh rate. Unfortunately i don't think such a thing exists .

I have been trying to discover the magical properties of bog roll. I dismantled the east wing of my bog roll mansion in order to conduct the studies. I also have been building a bog roll cannon powered by CO2. Once I've done that I'll use it to beat some sense into idiots buying hundreds of bog rolls.

Re: QOTW: What tech projects are you undertaking during lockdown?

Nothing major just a few of those little jobs i've been meaning to get around to.

Changing one of the gpu fans, swapping an ssd into the ps4 and i should fire up some of my old kit to see which to keep or sell on (in the future - could be a while yet).

Mainly it'll be diy stuff, got to get a dishwasher fitted and plumbed in plus plenty of other house jobs.

Oh and the loft/office needs a tidy...
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.
