Interesting but based on some of those benchmarks I do wonder if the 3070 will truly be faster than a 2080ti. I do hope so
Also think your graph colours are mixed up on the tomb raider benchmark, min and average colours look wrong

I'm thinking a RTX 2080 Ti @ £450-500 isn't looking unreasonable at this point.
As I expected, It would be a tremendous upgrade for 10xx series owners who skipped Turing but the average uplift over the 2080 (my current card) isn't enough to make me bite, only a 3090 would offer the sort of jump that would, assuming its performance scales in line with its paper specs, but it will be a cold day in hell before I'd spend £1400 on a GPU.
Oh well, roll on the 40xx cards in 2022/3
That's some nice performance, but I think I'll hold onto my 2080ti for a while yet.
So around 25% performance boost for 25% power draw increase? Am I reading that right?
I play a game where I get around 12 fps at 1080p resolution using a 1080 nvidia card at high settings
If I buy a 3090, I'll only get up to double the framerate, so 24 fps
Not worth it imo
How long do I have to wait for a card to give me a decent framerate? 5 years? 10?
A summary:
For anything other than 4k gaming, grab a second hand 2080/2080ti from eBay or a retailer's discounted card.
For 4k, go for it.

I don't game too much nowadays and my GTX 1070 was always the bottleneck in my system but after spending close to £400 for it, I couldn't justify jumping up to an RTX 2070 or the super for only a 25-30% performance increase for an even higher cost.
The RTX 3080 is still out of my price bracket but given its success, what I'm interested in is to see how the RTX 3070 performs. If it can match the RTX 2080 Ti, which is apparently 80% better than the GTX 1070 at 1440p at £400 or lower, then that is probably when I'll bite. I know the launch MSRP is $499 so that will translate to £499 most likely so I'll probably have to wait another 6 months to a year but let's see what AMD brings!
EDIT: I just remembered the news about the RTX 3060 Ti. If those rumours are true then that may be my preferred sweet spot.

Seems like the ideal upgrade for me currently on my 1080Ti and running 1440p Ultrawide...! Just hope I can pick one up tomorrow.
Nvidia really shouldn't have hyped it up so much. It kind of set us up for disappointment in what is still a decent product. I was on the fence on whether it was worth getting a 3080 right away, but I think I'll wait a little longer and see how the 3070 handles itself and maybe AMD cards. I game at 1440p (144Hz) too and the gains of this seem better for 4k.
Its like a GTX480/GTX470 - overhyped and huge power consumption.

Alot of these claims from NVIDIA seem BS, I think the 3070 at best would be around 2080ti, but I got my doubts, why did they not put the 3090 into the test?...
the 3090 would be what I would weight it all on, and also the card that has the most interest, especially if it seriously surpasses the 3080.
Easy upgrade choice for those like me with a 1080Ti, I'm halfway house between 1080p performance and 4k being 1440p Ultrawide so should still see some good benefits.
