going to be interesting to see how new games come out these studios, like Deathloop which is a PS exclusive after this.

Wow that's going to be a lot more games added to Game Pass. It's all good for me since I'm a subscriber but what does this do to the overall games publishing landscape? The mega players are getting eaten up by the mega mega conglomerates... Where will it end up?

Can't see current deals being changed.
But future releases, that is less certain.

Re: Microsoft to buy Bethesda Softworks owner for $7.5bn

What interests me in all this is the fact they have already bought up "The Outer Worlds" dev studio, the guys who had fallout to begin with, and now this! After decades, they will all be under the same roof again so to speak, microsoft could in theory create something great there and save that franchise from the '76 mess...

Re: Microsoft to buy Bethesda Softworks owner for $7.5bn

Microsoft are betting big on 'subscription' services... and to be fair they're not the only ones focusing on this (Apple for one are too)
    Azure etc for servers
    Office/onedrive etc for businesses/home users
    Game pass for gaming
I'm sure there are other things too but I hope MS don't see windows as a subscription service....

I do wonder if they'll maybe tie in with a music/tv/movie/fitness streaming service(s) at some point again for a 'complete package'... xbox is a good 'media player' at the end of the day.

And lets be honest at the rate things are going we might actually lose Sony from 'gaming' because it's pretty clear the 'future' of gaming is heading down subscription/streaming and I just don't think Sony are as prepared as MS and even Google/Nvidia for this.....

so would still have games for PC no matter what company releases something, they did good on getting ID, really good engine they have.

But to be honest, if was doing business, then I would not keep it to exclusives, but sell to both brands even if I owned one of the brands.

I hope they don't block modding of games via Nexus mods to push paid mods.

Windows will head that way. People are resisting but what will happen is you just won't get the updates etc. and it will be a huge security risk

Personally I'm hoping it goes the other way where the OS is 'free' (or stay as is with one off purchase) and MS use it as a way to 'enter the MS subscription universe'... I think MS would have an uphill struggle to push most pc users into paying for the OS on a subscription.

Mind you I'll just likely switch to linux if it comes to it, already been using programs that are 'cross platform' so...

Thats true, but i think Microsoft would be open to owners of that fruit brand gadgets could come to their service, the fruit brand more seem to me to just want to lock their users into their own little universe and then milk them for all they are worth.
