Is there 100% no new chipset with these?
Happy to make the jump from Z170 but I don't want to invest heavily for X670 to roll out next year with DDR5 and other goodies.

Could be a good year for AMD - if the rumours are true, they will finally have some competitive GPUs, and if the scores here are reflected in the real world, CPUs that actually make sense to buy.

(Because I have to keep banging on about this...), what are the projections of DDR5 prices for next year?
"Future proofing" is all very well, but if the cost per GB of DDR5 is going to be double of DDR4 for the first few years then somebody else can pay the early adopters fee. Especially since I recently upgraded my old Ivy Bridge system to 32GB, so any new system to be worthwhile would probably have to start at 64GB...

There are no 'rumors' about this.
AMD confirmed that Zen 3 will be coming to B550/X570 mobos and extended support for B450/X470 mobos as well (oddly enough, they did not include support for B350/X370 mobos out of concerns that the ROM chips are too small - which is not the case, as mobo OEM's could write support into the older mobos too if they got rid of say Zen 1 and lefts for example Zen+ and Zen 2).
No idea to be honest and this is one of things I'm 'considering' if I update at the end of the year along with things like price increases due to everything going on right now.... I'm after 128GB of ram (3D design so yes I can use it) in my next rig so it's not cheap either way for me lol

A 16% lift in multi-threading over 3900X is pretty impressive if believed. That would imply a fair increase in boost clocks in single core.
About 15% ipc at same clockspeed and boost clocks *should* be around 5ghz

Jeez -I've upgraded almost all my systems the last 18 months. Work pc is now Ryzen 2700X with 16 gigs of ddr4-3200, 1tb nvme mp510 ssd etc. etc.... and here's me wanting a new work PC (typing this on a trusty old Phenom II 955BE
The difference is like night and day. 2700X was £150 special on amazon

A bit worrying only the expensive models are being leaked. I can see AMD trying to quietly push up pricing like they did with the XT series!
No DDR5 this time and it will be a premium anyway. Much better investing in a decent nvme boot ssd, makes a bigger difference overall than faster memory unless it's absolute fps in games you're after. Was the same with the last 3 launches. I imagine they would go up a tad as well and I'm hearing they WON'T come with coolers either. TDP has risen as well a little bit but still a lot less than Intel
