Tarinder, any chance of undervolting tests with the Ampere GPUs? I've seen loads of reports around the web that you can actually get improved performance by undervolting them due to change in heat output and significantly reducing power draw.

It might be the only one you can actually buy though so the 3080 and 3090 might well be higher tier cards but if you can't actually buy them then who cares.

I don't know if I'm meant to be impressed, but something - and I really can't put my finger on what it is - leaves me completely cold here. This seems completely underwhelming.
I'll be interested to hear other people's opinions, it might help me work out why I'm just not excited about this at all.

Means that second hand 2080ti's should be around £400 otherwise you might as well go 3070. Might be good time to bag a second hand one.

For some reason i'm really into 2nd hand value parts these days than buying new.

Agreed, £400 for a 2080ti makes sense, but they're going second hand for around £700 still. 2080 Supers for about £500 (vs the likely £350 they're worth). Next couple of weeks should be interesting with AMD's launch tomorrow.

I'm on a 1070ti at the moment and had a failed attempt to go to a 5700XT (unstable card, sent it back). So my thoughts over the summer were to wait for Ampere to come out and pick up a 2070 super for cheap, or even a 2080. But these cards have disrupted the top end.

I was surprised to see the 3070 do so well in 4K, I thought the 8GB would make it lose out against a 2080ti, but that doesn't come through in the current benchmarks. Making the 2080ti even less attractive (albeit still more attractive than the "double the performance" claim).

I tell you the big draw on this card for me is: it's really dual slot. So many AIP cards have spilled over to the 3rd slot, rendering it useless (which I currently use).

Maybe because perf/watt is still only on par with last gen Turing and perf/£ is on par with last gen RDNA1?
If reviewers keep comparing it to the ludicrously priced 2080Ti then of course it looks good. But consumers shopping in the £400 range already know what perf/£ looks like and this is disappointing.

For a mid range card to be as good as the last gen top of the range is good. Not exactly a 2080ti killer but definatly a 2080-super killer.

Now lets see what AMD can bring to the table and see if it does truly upset the apple cart so to speak.

Be interesting to see where things are in a few days, I'd like to spend less than £500 so this and whatever comes from AMD should complete my Christmas list..

I am also waiting to see how the second-hand market is affected by the new stuff, I can't imagine people with 2080's and the likes getting rid to buy a 3080 or whatever comes from AMD and getting rid of a card they've paid near a grand for and selling it for what they're worth vs the new stuff..

Has anyone seen Nicehash figures for any of the new cards, wondering if this new wave of cards will see the miners buying everything again..

It's decent, but after 2 years people wanted better than last gen performance and reasonable pricing. The paltry 8Gb RAM on a near £500 card is disappointing. 8Gb was offered nearly 4 years and half years ago for $379 on the GTX1070....I know people will argue it's not having a detrimental effect on performance, maybe not right now, but that's not the point anyway. They're offering the same quantity vRAM for a 31% hike in MRRP. Inflation hasn't gone up 31% in the last 4.5 years...
