You've been able to uninstall the Chromium version of Edge for sometime now, it's worth noting though that doing so will restore the links to the original Edge as that can't be uninstalled.

The best Chromium-based browser for me is still Vivaldi, which has had these customizations for a long time already (and many more). The only downside (on Linux) is no Wayland support, but it's getting there with Ozone (not that the X11 version is bad, far from it).

I use Vivaldi too, as mentioned above it has had vertical tabs for years.

Vivaldi goes too far in giving customisation imo and the HTML rendered UI really makes the whole thing sluggish. It's nice that you can modify it with CSS, but how many people actually do that.

Brave is my preferred browser now, it feels like Chrome just with a few nice to haves sprinkled on top and a bonus of about $100 worth of BAT after about a year of using it is nice too.

I've not used the latest version of Edge, but the older one is still ok for occasional use. In fact, I just loaded it up and first thing I see is their privacy disclaimer... guess I need to do some reading!

I like Firefox and Vivaldi... Chrome is still the default browser, but I do like Firefox's Facebook container. I use these 3 browsers for browser isolation... don't want google to know EVERYTHING I do online.
Also Vivaldi seems to be the only browser in which NoScript works properly anymore (based on the other browsers I've used). The others seem to have bypassed NoScript.

One thing I'm uncomfortable with Edge is the fact that it's the by the same dev as my OS. And that windows settings integration is not going to aleviate my concerns much further (at least that first screenshot looks the same as Settings aka modern Control Panel)!


Now, if only Chrome didn't use 2GB of RAM when idle, that'd be nice! I've only got 20 tabs open, and most are idle... so what's the memory being used for? If I had to guess, it's those damn trackers!

I've used it a while back but got bored of it. Didn't know it got hijacked though! When did this happen?
If you're talking about the warning that Chrome gives, this happens when an app gets taken off the store, not because it got hijacked. I found that out last month, when I saw a bunch of warnings, then looked in the store. They were not there anymore.

EDIT: So I just saw the video. Sleeping tabs is exactly the same as The Great Suspender (just a different implementation of it). Good job MS, stealing someone else's ideas and calling it the great innovation....

Vivaldi and Brave are the best two Chromium browsers.

I was a life long Firefox user until Mozilla went to the dark side, getting involved in politics and embracing de-platforming, they are no longer trust worthy. Mozilla don't care despite all the negative responses from open source community, bad leadership at Mozilla has sadly become rooted deep and refuses to leave.

Librefox is a fork of Firefox removing Mozilla's telemetry if you wish to still use it.

Firefox was always a good browser when it came to details, its gets lots of little user experience things right that are missing in Chromium browsers.

But its actual browsing performance is poor vs Chromium browsers now that I've switched to Brave, especially when it comes to recovery from anything that spikes RAM usage, Firefox never fully recovers gets sluggish and needs a restart, Brave on the other hand always stays smooth as silk.

Brave is developed by former Firefox devs too.

I've got Brave on my Tablets. It's pretty decent, and functional. Haven't tried the desktop version yet.... but might give it a go too. As I've heard good things about it elsewhere as well.

Can Brave sync automatically between desktop and android versions? - By that I mean every x period of time rather than a one off sync.

To be fair I've not changed browser for years. Firefox now and probably always will be as it's setup just how I like it, syncs across my machines including the ui etc. and just works

Long gone are the times I will mess about with my setups and that includes hardware now
