    XFX releases fanless 7950 GTs

GPU and memory speeds range from 550-610MHz and 1.4-1.6GHz respectively. Three of the SKUs are cooled purely by heatpipes. There are two 'ExTreme' editions, one with and one without the fanless design, while the 'XXX' edition of the 7950 GT comes only in a fanless form, XFX proving that they don't need any fans to keep that GPU at bay.

I like this rising popularity of passivly cooled cards, but ATI and nVidia need to work on power efficency for the masses instead of insanely fast cards for a few people.

I considered one of these, when I bought my 7950GT. Decided against it, just because I knew I;d end up tearing it off and putting an aftermarket one on for higher clocks. Which is exactly what happened (the stock cooler lasted long enough to run one loop of 3Dmark to make sure it wasn't DOA).

Nice to see cooler cards, I'm not a fan of having something sitting at 80-90c sitting in my case. Mine barely reaches 55c most of the time, even with a decent overclock. A Fatlal1ty VF900 thing is sitting on it right now.

Btw dynamic sigs and the ad in the top right points to the OCZ press release instead of the XFX one.

As much as I'm not much of a fan of XFX, I have to say that these do look pretty good. I agree with what Chuckskull said about swapping the stock cooler, I was going to stick an NV silencer on this, but theres no power socket, so thats a job for another time.

I would never buy a graphics card with a fan

Whats the point in the best graphics in the world, if you can hear the audio over the fan noise =)

    I won't buy a fanless unless it's a watercooling one.
I have a 7900gtx, which it is a little bit noisy but acceptable.
ati new high-end card x1950xtx can do the work, have efficient cooling and low noise fan.
Or you can wait for 7950gt new competitor x1950pro. Thanks for the 80nm technique, it doesn't consume much power and create as much heat as the old mid-range x1900gt.

I assume your desktop case has a much better cooling than mine.
My one doesn't have extra fans.
What I mean a little bit noisy, not much. I own the x1900gt before, the 7900gtx is quieter and cooler.

I think the x1950xtx maybe quieter than the 7900gtx. But By having a efficient cooling system for a monster R580+, ati make the x1950xtx a lot heavier than 7900gtx.

Fanless graphic card is quiet, but it may have a shorter life than the one with fan. And you can't get a good overclock performance with it.

The only good point about the 7900gtx that i had was the cooler, very quiet indeed.
