    Hmmmmmm XFX 7950 GX2 Maybe?

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=370089

Scan are doing it for 316, i might grab one, what do you guys reckon. I just went round my mates house, and he has a Gainward GX2 at 600/1600, with a 4600+ AM2 setup, and he ran FEAR at 1600x1200 for me, full settings, soft shadows on, and got all 100% frames above 40fps. If i try that, it's a slide show. made me wonder.

Now i was thinking just get a R600 when they appear, but as we all know, Vista is ages away still, as are games for X10 and it's only Crysis then, and Ut2007 a little.

Scans price seems awesome. I could sell my X1800XT 512mb, for close to £200 hopefully as it has an awesome VJ cooler on it, and ill keep the GX2, for a while. Probly use it for Crysis, i doubt it will struggle.

I prefer ATI cards, and there drivers conrol panel, but ive suddenly got an urge to get one of these, having seen me mates card. I assume my PSU is good enough, and mobo is fine?

Oh forgot to say i play all the usual games, UT2004, DOW, Half Life 2, FEAR, Quake 4, Doom 3, Halo, Far Cry. SLI seems to work nicely for these games. Like said if i get one, ill be playing Crysis and Ut2007 on it as well most likely.

    What you guys think?

I would personally go for a X1950XTX, with US prices set at $399... could be potentially cheaper than a 7950GX2..

I'll just wait and see tbh, just another week away. Besides, not all games scale well with 7950GX2..

Definetly x1950. Like sawyen said, the GX2 doesn't work so well with all games.

Yeah, i hear you guys, but i cannot see the X1950 getting close to the GX2 in most games. Hmmm, guess ill wait and see, and check the reviews of it. Trouble is, it will be pricey when it first comes out, and it's gonna be another month away. There bound to be close to £400. £316 for a GX2 seems good, and most seem to clock to 550/1400 easily. Hmmmmm.

well, if vr-zone's pulled down NDA review is anything to go by.. I'd say the X1950XTX should have enough horses to take down the 7950GX2..

From what VR showed, the X1950XTX is about 10-15% faster than the GX2 in all the games they tested.. so I'll say 5-10% faster across the board.. maybe give and take 1 or 2 titles that are OpenGL based..

Yeah the X1950 seemed to be a monster at higher resolutions.

Thats just the thing. They realised there GX2 numbers were way off, thats why the review is down. If you check a proper GX2 review, against what they had, there numbers were really low.

There is no way a R580 with 2ghz memory can beat a GX2 surely?

Possibily, i'd wait for a hexus review before splashing any moeny on either card. Of course if all the games you're going to play work alright with the GX2 might be worth buying anyway.

Hmmmmm. Tekheads do one for 352, but it's out of stock.

I wish scan would change that link then as it's wrong, and it's gonna confuse people, if it's not a real 7950 GX2.

I dunno if i should bother waiting for the X1950, it's gonna have major price gouging when first out, and it can't beat the GX2.

It is a 'real' 7950 because that's what the BIOS identifies it as these days. However it is pretty misleading on first glance (you've just got to read the fine print these days sadly).

Well truth is no 1950 cards have been tested, so we can't say one way or the other

I would be a little surprised if the 1950 would take the crown accross all benchmarks, but I could imagine it winning in some situations.

Personally if ATi's new king can even get close in most benchies I'll take that over the GX2 just to avoid the hassles of the thing.
